Tfklover here, reporting in with the first article in (hopefully) a series of Whyville citizens and some unusual hobbies. The lucky Whyvillian that I interviewed for my opening article is roxmysox8.
Tfklover: So, what is your unusual hobby?
Roxmysox8: Interior Decorating. It is so much fun, but it's something you don't hear about every day.
Tfklover: Why is that your favorite activity?
Roxmysox8: It is an outlet for creativity, just another way to express myself. I guess it could even be considered an art!
Tfklover: Are there any hardships that take some time to master?
Roxmysox8: Yes! A lot of people thing that kids can't decorate, like their work will look all sloppy or something! But you just have to work hard and do your best. Kids have talents, and need to express themselves some way!
Tfklover: So what kind of things are involved in Interior Decorating?
Roxmysox8: Well, decorating :-). You just find a place that looks bland and *yawn* boring, you know? And think of an idea to liven it up. Sometimes it can get a little crazy -- you should see my pink and green bedroom! Anyway, decorating can involve painting, hanging flower arrangements, pictures, even arranging/adding furniture. Pretty much anything, and that is what I love most about it.
Tfklover: Sounds great! Is there any advice you would give to someone who wants to try?
Roxmysox8: Yep . . . If something just doesn't look right, don't be scared to start over. Prove yourself -- don't let anyone tell you that you are doing a bad job. It's art, and with art, nothing can be considered wrong -- it's just personal style!
There you have it! Now everyone get off the computer and go paint your living room! Just kidding -- your mom will probably ban you from the computer when you tell her you got the idea of off Whyville. :-)
Check back for another rare and exciting hobby!
Looking for that old can of paint -- it's around here somewhere . . .
