Welcome back again Whyville! Our last issue featured funny-man Dane Cook. This issue will feature someone whom I personally admire . . . okay, obsess over. He has made over 40 films, more than half of which recieved an Oscar nomination. I find him to be one of the greatest actors not only in America, but all over the world. Today, I am featuring Johnny Depp.

John Christopher Depp II was born on June 9th, 1963. Being a native of Owensboro, Kentucky, his family moved to Miramar, Florida. Johnny grew up with music, soon dropping out of his High School to rock out in garages with his band, "The Kids."

Johnny was 17 by the time his band had reached L.A. Unfortunetly, the music career didn't take off as well as they planned. However, the band remained living in L.A. Johnny soon met Lori Alison, a make-up artist working in non-other than Hollywood! It just so happens that during production, Lori was working with Nicholas Cage. When introduced to Lori's new fiance, Nicholas Cage insisted on introducing Johnny to his agent.

Johnny's acting career shot off from then. His first role was in Wes Craven's A Nightmare On Elm Street. He then starred in famous 80's movies like Platoon, Cry Baby, and Private Resort. In 1987, Johnny signed a contract with FOX to have a role on 21 Jump Street, in which he played Officer Tom Hanson, I believe.

Today, Johnny has played in many roles, each in which one character is completely different from the previous roles. He is currently living in the south of France with his girlfriend actress/singer Vanessa Paradis. Together, they have two children named Lily-Rose Melody and Jack John Christopher Depp III.

Did You Know: Johnny has told Oprah Winfrey that his mother loved the feeling of moving into a new house that once they moved out of their house to the home next door!
