Everybody knows how boring some summers can be. When I moved, It was about two weeks before school let out in my new town. When it was finally summer, I did absolutely nothing. Stayed inside, watched some TV, played video games, ate junk food. And as School's nearly ending again, I realize how bad that some was for me.

When I say bad, I mean for my body. I got no exercise, ate badly and all day, and made no friends. I wanted to prevent that for myself and others so I thought I would make a list of summer goals and activities for everybody to do.

Activities

1. Join a team.
This summer, I joined the neighborhood swim team. This way, I can exercise everyday, play competitive games, and make new friends. I've only gone to practice for a week and I love it. Now, I understand that swimming may not be your thing. There could be a summer volleyball or baseball or even horseback riding team you could join. If not, try something new!

2. Play a never ending game with your friends.
A couple summers ago, I always played outside with my friends. We would go into the woods looking for bad guys and playing hide and seek. You could play a game and continue it the next day and the day after that. If you don't have friends in your neighborhood, make new ones!

3. Get a job. It's real easy to get a summer job without going to the McDonald's. You could mow lawns, help garden, babysit, clean windows, walk dogs. Whatever floats your boat! The best thing is that you can make some cash while doing it! Make some flyers and business cards and tape them to a light post that everyone passes going to their house.

Goals

1. Read a book or two.
This keeps your brain working throughout the summer. You could also play weekly crossword or soduko games from your community newspaper. Or even read that!

2. Participate in a contest.
You could go to a karaoke or writing contest to compete for a prize. Make sure it's something you like to do! You can probably look one up on Google.com.

3. Limit TV Time.
Limit you TV time is probably the best thing you can do for yourself. Only watch maybe 4 or 5 hours a day. Even less. This makes it so that you want to read a book or go out side! Just don't eat when you're bored!

Well, I hope I helped with these Summer tips. Just because your summer is fun doesn't mean it has to be boring for you. So have a great one!
