Hello wonderful Whyvillians, lizeky94 with the report on what's up in my little world.

In sixth grade, my language arts teacher was such an inspiration to me. I joined Shakespeare Club and thanks to her she helped reveal the actress within me with my first role in a play for the public, as Piddles the Naughty Puppy. (note: there was no actual dog named Piddles in Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream) In my yearbook that year, she wrote that I should check out some Carol Burnett videos. I scratched my head, who the heck was Carol Burnett?

After some googling, watching her show, and reading her bio, I learned a great deal about this fabulous comedian. She was born April 26, 1933 in San Antonio, Texas. Her family moved to Hollywood later on. She grew up with parents who were alchoholics and they actually let her run around the house cussing. Her parents passed away, so she grew up with her grandmother.

Anyone ever remember that classic, Annie? I had watched it before, not knowing who the evil person was, until I examined it closer, it was Carol Burnett, she was a good villain. Carol was good friends with Lucille Ball (from I Love Lucy) until Lucille passed away on Carol's 56th birthday. Another one of her movies that I had to see was Once Upon A Mattress, (2005). She was Queen Agravain. An excellent queen might I add.I had never heard of Once Upon A Mattress, until last year when I saw the remake of it. The original Once Upon A Mattress was made in 1964, 42 years ago!

Carol Burnett has married 3 times. Don Saroyan (1955-1962), Joe Hamilton (1963-1984) They had 3 daughters, Erin, Carrie, and Jody. Hamilton (Joe) passed away from cancer. Her most recent husband, is Brian Miller.

In the 1970's, Burnett had a sitcom/variety show: The Carol Burnett Show. Before the show actually started, Carol would answer questions from the audience. I was watching America's Funniest Home Videos with Bob Saget (from Full House) hosting. He would answer questions from the audience in this one episode, and he commented, "I feel like Carol Burnett". Other stars on the Carol Burnett Show were Tom Conway, Harvey Korman, Lyle Waggoner and Vicki Lawrence. There were sometimes guest stars that would perform a song near the end or alongside Carol. This one episode, near the end, Jackson 5 performed a song and alongside Carol. Carol was the teacher and the Jackson 5 were her students. They performed a song later on in sparkly green pantsuits and afros. Yes, that was when Michael Jackson was cute and without all those surgeries.

Something I recognized whenever Carol ends the song, after her goodbye song, she tugs on her ear. Why? She was giving a message to her grandmother, who raised her. *audience goes awww* I read on the first page of Carol Burnett's autobiography, One More Time.

Carol Burnett splits her time between California and New York and plans never to retire.

Ms. G-S said in my 8th grade yearbook this year that I have the creativity (I wore a duct tape outfit for a project in Language Arts that year) and spark that Carol Burnett has. Carol has these little characters that she did on her show. I had a talent show in my class in eighth grade, and since I didn't get to perform my characters (nerd, teacher, conceited, self-consious) for my class, I got to perform it for 6th graders. Ms. G-S told her sixth graders that I was the future Carol Burnett. I asked her how I did, and her response was, "If you can make 6th graders laugh, you can make anyone laugh".

I hope you have learned a little something about this awesome comedian, Carol Burnett.

Ciao

I wasn't made for the stage, the stage was made for me.
