Out the finger-printed window
The wind blew on a hot day
As I watched the faded, watercolor sky
Spin its yarn from blueberry to soft plum
Through the passenger side mirror
Of a moon-roofed car
And I felt poetic as I often do
After we meet at yours or mine
To sew smiles on each others faces
And clutch ourselves, weightless
For hours that waver in time

Songs stuck in my head
Are always ones that remind me of you
From lovers to smooth legs to lockets,
One willow tree for us to share,
A marching band to sing your name,
And a promise that if the silence takes you,
If heaven and hell don't want you,
Then I'll follow you into the dark

Inspiration remains
In the time I spend with you,
Your smiling face and bright eyes,
And the feeling of a kiss
From my happiness's harbinger,
A beauty I've become so close to,
That I've said what I'd not imagined saying
And grown from it and loved it,
So I want it to go on
