Let's here it for Sundays, everyone! Oh, come on . . . I prefer Fridays too, but there is no band called Taking Back Friday, so Sunday it is!
Welcome to the third edition of "The Music Scene"! Before I begin, I want to thank all of you who put the ideas of bands to do in my head, and I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Whatever kind of music you like, I hope you can appreiciate the music I write about, and are able to take a liking to the bands. So now, to go on, cause we're Taking Back Sunday, all!
Taking Back Sunday was formed in 1999, in Amityville, New York. This band formed like any other band you here about. Just a few guys and a lot of dreams. For TBS, those dreams happened to come true. Taking Back Sunday play a range of music, from soft rock, to songs that make you feel like getting up and dancing. Literally. You should see the concerts, Whyville!
The members of Taking Back Sunday say they get their sound from bands like Sunny Day Real Estate, Jimmy Eat World, Lifetime, and Endpoint. Vast sounds of different bands come together in Taking Back Sunday.

Taking Back Sunday released their first 5 song demo CD in February of 2001. Before that, I suppose it was small gigs and lots of concrete basements for them. After a year of self promoted touring, along with bands like At The Drive In, and Alkaline Trio, Taking Back Sunday signed to Victory Records. The band immediately was shipped to New Jersey's Big Meanie Recording Studios to record their first full length debut. This album, though it was their first, was eaten up by the fans. It became very popular, and some of TBS's most famous songs come from that first CD today. This record, Tell All Your Friends, is layerd with vocalist Adam Lazzara's emotional vocals, and the ripping guitar sounds of Eddie Reyes. Tell All Your Friends was released in March of 2002.
Taking Back Sunday spent the rest of 2002 and much into 2003 touring, touring, and more touring. The fan base was getting bigger, and Taking Back Sunday's dream of being a widley known band were about to come true. It seemed so convenient that that was the time bassist Shaun Cooper and guitarist John Nolan decided to leave the band. Perfect, huh?
Taking Back Sunday fans were devastated. TBS's future was left in doubt. However, vocalist/guitarist Fred Mascherino and bassist Matt Rubano filled in the line-up for the rest of the 2003 touring session. Whether these guys were fans of TBS and heard the news of the band's future, or that they were longtime friends of the band, I don't know. I'm just glad they came!
Fred and Matt also arrived just in time to Tell All Your Friends follow up album. That album, Where You Want To Be, hit the Top 20 charts, and were the headliners for the North American tour, and hitting occasional Warped Tour stops along the way. With this group's success growing, they signed on to Warner Bros. in 2005. Taking Back Sunday, ever the hard workers, were back in the New Jersey studio in late 2005 to record the band's most recent album, Louder Now. This album is packed with sound and tapped into the band's great live energy.
Taking Back Sunday might not have the most heartbreaking or heart touching biography in the history of biographys, but their story is intresting all the same. I find I can't really appreciate a band until I know its story behind its music.
The members of Taking Back Sunday, as of now, are
Adam Lazzara: Vocals
Fred Mascherino: Guitars / Back Up Vocals
Eddie Reyes: Guitars
Matt Rubano: Bass
Mark O'Connel: Drummer

Now, I checked out what a few Whyvillians thought of this band. (When I could find a few people who have heard of TBS!)
Sk8ter304: They're awesome! I love their music!
Gevalia: Taking Back Sunday is fine. I like them. Their songs are a little repetative, though.
And lastly, my friend, MsMurder, who has a strong opinion about everything:
Msmurder: I really enjoy Taking Back Sunday's music. It's cool and flowing, but doesn't make you bored. Sure, because they have different styles, some songs don't appeal as much as others, but most of their music is pleasing.
Haha. So there you have it.
Check TBS out on purevolume or other music sites. Three minutes of your time isn't much of a sacrifice if you find out you like them.
So is your favorite day Sunday now?
For the Music . . . Forever
