What damage can one kiss inflict?
Sweet as the rose and fresh as the dew,
Swift and true, to wake one anew,
What harm can a little kiss do?
Let us embark on a perilous tale,
Sadly seen and often too true
Behind the veil, to our avail,
May we find the truths so few.
It starts with a flutter, a beating of heart,
One blissful bite of Cupid's dart,
Is one step apart from those who depart
To play in the game of love.
Hands may one hold, blushes abound,
Delicate words and arms surround,
New passions sound and gazes are found,
Sweet sayings, warm breath in thy ear.
Too often this sad story may arise,
To raise false hopes, to cover thy eyes,
It blinds the wise; bombards them with lies,
But let us continue this tale.
A kiss is cheap, dealt out on a whim,
Taken by her, given by him,
To see through the dim, the state is grim,
Thorny and narrow the path.
I have a kiss, a kiss for but one,
My jewel, my treasure, touched by none,
Lips I shun, lest I be undone,
My kiss shall be not on a whim.
My precious kiss, my priceless bequest,
Hold tight, for soon, as joy shall attest
Purity blessed, my kiss now a test
A trial to further its worth
All dear youths, keep tight thy kiss
Time will only enhance its bliss
While it exists, keep nothing amiss,
Save it for thy life's true love.
