Ye town of Far Far Away is about to get a new king. But will it be a Happily Ever After? This is Nolegirl6, back with another review, this one on the movie Shrek the Third. Am I the only one who has noticed that this seems to be the year of the thirds? First you had Spider-man 3, then Pirates of the Caribbean 3, and now Shrek 3! This animated fantasy adventure is the third movie in the Shrek seiries. It is rated PG and is an hour and a half long.

This movie starts off in Far Far Away, where Shrek is going through the troubles of being the temporary King, because the real King is sick. He makes several silly mistakes, like, as you've probably seen in the commercials, leaning against a boat and it takes off, then he throws a wine bottle on it and it catches fire. But when King Harold dies, Shrek has to either find Arthur, Fiona's long-lost cousin, or become king himself. Shrek doesn't want to be King, so he sets off to find this so called Arthur. While the ship is sailing out to sea, Fiona drops some big news, which at first Shrek has trouble hearing, but the shock comes later.

The main characters in this story are Shrek (Mike Myers), Donkey (Eddie Murphy), Fiona (Cameron Diaz), Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas), Prince Charming (Rupert Everett), Arthur (Justin Timberlake) the Queen Lillian (Julie Andrews).

Fun Facts: Everywhere except in the United Kingdom, Larry King played Doris, the ugly stepsister, but in the United Kingdom, Doris was played by Jonathon Ross. In Shrek the Third, Christopher Knights played six characters, the three blind mice, Evil Tree #2, Guard #2, a Heckler. Five actors from NBC's Saturday Night Live appear in the movie. Two actors, Amy Poehler and Maya Rudolph, were current cast members at the time of the film's release; the remaining three are Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, and Cheri Oteri (who plays Sleeping Beauty). The film grossed a total of $121,629,270 in its first weekend, the best opening weekend ever for an animated film, and third best overall.

In the future of Shrek, be looking out for Shrek the Halls, a Christmas special, planning to pick up where Shrek the Third left off. There will also be another sequel, Shrek 4, planned to hit theaters in 2010. The rumor of a spin-off has also been confirmed. It will be called Puss in Boots: The Story of an Ogre Killer. It is expected to be released between Shrek the Third and Shrek 4, so all you Puss lovers out there don't have to wait three more years before seeing him again.

There are many funny stores located in Far Far Away. For example, there is "Abercrombie and Witch", along with many others. But stores aren't the only things in this movie that you can see in real life. During the final battle, after taking the body of Puss in Boots, Donkey uses his (Puss') sword to carve a "D" into Pinocchio. Similarly, Puss carved a "P" into a tree in his first appearance in Shrek 2. Both of these are a parody of the character Zorro, which was played, among other actors over the years, by Antonio Banderas (the same actor who voices Puss in Boots).

Queen Lillian is also seen humming the song "My Favorite Things" after smashing a wall, which is funny, because Julie Andrews plays the queen, and she sang that same song in The Sound of Music. Also, when the villians are vandalizing Far Far Away, they change the "Bootery" store from "Spooters" to "Hooters", then you see a bunch of men running in there.

Spacangel: It was better than Spider-man 3 (a lot better)

Girlmusic: It was a good movie with a lot of funny scenes. I liked when Shrek talked Gangsta.

My favorite part of the movie was when they were at the pub and it said un-happy hour, and then the part when they are in the woods and they run into Merlin, who seems a bit crazy. My least favorite was when they were at the play in the beginning of the movie.

Overall, I thought this movie was pretty good, but it is better for younger kids than older kids. I give it a 4 star rating. Keep watching for more strange occurances of the real world in Far Far Away in Shrek the Third. This is Nolegirl6, saying "Just Say Nay" (as seen in Shrek the Third).
