I had just moved out of a city and in to the country. There were no malls or traffic, just grass, trees, and animals. My house had so many trees. There were fruit trees too. The trees weren't small, they were huge! They were cherry, peach, apple, and oak trees.
One day I tried to get some fruit. So I climbed up one of the peach trees. It was pretty easy too the branches were sturdy. When I got up there it was awesome. I was surrounded buy leaves and fruit. I could see far away, but no one could see me in my hide out. I crawled out on to a branch that was sort of straight. I lay on my belly looking all around me.
Then I saw a humming bird which almost scared me so much I fell off. I picked a few big peaches and crawled down the tree. When I went in the house I got yelled out for climbing up an old tree. Also my clothes were covered in dirt, leaves, and sap.
Even though I wasn't supposed to climb the trees, I did it anyway. I climbed the oak which was much better than the peach. I was looking at the cows down the road when I saw birds in the tree. There was a nest, one bird, and eggs! I slowly crawled closer to the nest to see it better. There were three eggs. I was so excited, but I couldn't tell my mom. I would get in trouble. So I just stayed there watching.
I loved climbing the trees and just looking out daydreaming . . . I was in the oak when I saw this boy about my age jumping on the trampoline. I watched him for awhile, but he saw me when I was looking! I think he was mad that he was being spied on. I couldn't think of what to say so I just said, "Hi." Then he said, "Why are you in a tree?" I said, "Cause' it's fun, wanna come up here and see for yourself?" He came over to my house and I told him to come up here and look at the nest. He thought it was cool.
When we climbed down and were sitting on the grass my mom came out and said, "Oh, good you found and friend. What's your name? Would you like to come over tomorrow too?" He said, "It's Sam, and uhh I guess." I said, "Okay, bye. I'll see you tomorrow."
The next day we climbed the cherry trees together. We had to be careful because these branches weren't as strong. We picked four buckets full of cherries that day. We ate some and then see how far we could spit the pits.
My dad saw me and Sam in the oak tree one day and said, "When I was little I had a treehouse, that oak looks good for a nice fort. I could help you build it." A treehouse sounded awesome and I bet I wouldn't have to disobey my mom about going into the tree. My dad bought boards, nails, and paint. Sam and I helped nail the boards into the tree. It took one week to get it finished. It was big too. You could fit six kids laying down in it. We didn't always stay in the oak. We still climbed all the other trees too.
I was watching TV when I flipped to this old movie. Three girls were burying a box which said on it Best Friend Box. I thought it was pretty cool and called Sam over. He brought this wooden box over and his favorite thing. I wrote on a piece of paper. "I, Linzey, promise to be Sam's best friend forever." Then Sam wrote, "I, Sam, promise to be Linzey's best friend forever." We rolled the paper up and placed it in the box. Then we both put our favorite thing in it too. On the box I wrote with leftover paint "The Trees." Sam and I dug a hold in front of the big oak (our favorite tree). We put the box in the hole and said a promise, "We will come back here to dig this up in one year. We will always be friends, forever." Then we buried the box.
One year later we dug up the box. Then we put one more thing we love in it, and again buried it. We are still best friends.
