When I was six, I had to go to a different school. A public school! The first day I walked into that school I was already different. I was in stockings, dressing shoes, and in a jumper. Everyone was laughing at me. But there was one kid who was not laughing at me. Everyone knew her; she was popular. But she stood by me side and said, "Hey stop laughing at the new kid, you wouldn't like it if this was you."

She became my best friend. Early that school year I became really sick. I had to go into the hospital and when I finally woke up I saw that she was right by my side again.

What I have learned from her is that she is the bravest person on Earth. She doesn't care what people think about her. She can walk on the streets looking like a monkey and she won???t care what people say about her. I am just amazed by her.

When I was 10 she left me. She move to California and I live in Pennsylvania, so well, we don't get to talk that much anymore.

At age 11 she got cancer. I wanted to go out to California to be by her side like the way she was for me. But with modern technology, I didn't have to leave home. She was in the hospital bed and the computer was right next to her and thousand miles away I was there next to the computer talking to her.

Now we get to see each other much, much more. And she keeps teaching me things that I can use in my life. If she died in her stage of cancer I think I would have died with her. I thank God every day because I have a friend like her.
