Hello Whyville. I'm sure you have all heard of him, he has a hit TV show called "Mindfreak" that airs every Tuesday night at 10 PM Eastern standard time. He isn't a magician that pulls a rabbit out of a silk hat and he's not a magician that says, "Here pick a card." Look up "Mindfreak" in the dictionary and you will find the name Criss Angel.

A Magician is Born:

Christopher Nicolas Sarantakos, also known as Criss Angel, was born on December 19, 1967 in East Meadow, New York City. Growing up Criss had an interest in playing the drums, but his main interest was magic. His magic influences are Harry Houdini (who died at age 52), Aldo Richiardi (who died at an unknown date), and his father (who died in 1998). Criss would perform magic at birthday parties, clubs, and private events. Criss also played in a band called Angeldust. He has also been a lead singer for a heavy-metal rock band.

Magic Starts Somewhere:

Criss made his first appearance as a magician on the ABC "Talent" show in 1995. Criss had a show on Broadway called "Mindfreak". "Mindfreak" preformed 600 shows, but the show stopped on June 6, 2003. In October 2002, the season premiere of Criss Angel's "Mindfreak" aried on the ABC Family channel. Seasons one and two were filmed at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. But are now filmed at the Luxor Hotel.

Illusionist:

Now with the third season of "Mindfreak", Criss has walked on water, levitated in the air, and made himself disappear with only a beach towel. Criss has always dreamed of levitating over the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. This hotel has 26 floors, is the shape of a pyramid, it is 500 feet tall. It has a spotlight that shoots out of the tip that has the output of 42.2 billion candle power. The season three premiere showed Criss getting ready to levitate off the tip of the Luxor Hotel, in the spotlight. He would either burn to death by the light or fall while levitating and be killed. Criss has achieved his dream and is still alive today.

Other Appearances:

Criss also guest-starred on "CSI: NY" on February 28, 2007. He played Luke Blade a well-known magician. Where he preformed stunts such as being lit on fire and sawed in half. He has also appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Conan O'Brien," "The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson," "Ellen Degeneres," and the "VH1 Rock Honors" where he introduced the legendary Ozzy Osburne.

Succesful Magician:

Criss has been named Magician of the Year for 2001, 2004, 2005, 2007, and 2008. He has also been named IMS Magician of the year 2007 and 2008. He has also written the book "Mindfreak: Secret Revaluations" which has been on the Best Sellers list since May 13th, 2007. Criss is also planned to play Leon Mandrake in the film Mandrake which will be released in 2008. His character is based on a magician who uses illusion and hypnotism to combat crime. "Mindfreak" season one and two DVDs, have been the first and second best selling DVD's of A&E history.
