I'm back! Another not-so-known-place article coming at you. This one is not just a country. It is a continent. Steve Irwin came from there, and so do kangaroos. Got any guesses? If you guessed Australia you were right (or you could've seen the article title, lol)!
Sure, you've heard of Australia, the place down under where Aussie Shampoo products come from. And you might say, that crocodile hunter guy came from there and so do kangaroos. But do you really know about its history, and culture? Australia is 7,617,930 Kilometers, or 2,941,299 Sq. Miles. The Great Barrier Reef is there. It is the biggest reef in the world. Most of Australia is desert or scrub, but some of it has a temperate climate. The northern part of the country has a tropical climate. It has rainforest, woodland, grassland, mangrove swamps and desert.
About 85% of flowering plants, 84% of mammals, more than 45% of birds, and 89% of in-shore, temperate-zone fish are endemic. Endemic means only in that area; they aren't found anywhere else in the world. Most of the trees are evergreens, and are adapted to fire and droughts. Australia is home to the platypus, koala, wombat, kangaroo, and birds like the emu, and kookaburra. They also have dingos.
Australia has a long history of visual arts, that dates back to cave and bark painting a long time ago. A common theme in Australian art is their landscape. Aboriginal music, dance, and art have had an influence on the modern dances music and art. Sports are a big part in their culture, such as rugby, australian football, soccer, a horse racing.
Random facts coming right up!
1. There are meat eating plants there that are wild. Not like your terrarium with a Venus Fly-Trap.
2. The first inhabitants of Australia were the Aborigines, who migrated there at least 40,000 years ago.
3. Has a small population
So there is you run-down on Australia. Hope you learned a little from it, and I hope you liked it. Welp, This is me signing off, saying, L8r G8rs!
