Hello Whyville, Obvibeaut here with her second article. I recently started a pageant for females on Whyville called, Miss Whyville. I would receive y-mails with girls asking to join, and I sent them back a registration form. Many beautiful girls got the chance to be crowned, by my choice, Miss Whyville, July 2007.

I've seen this idea before, but it really struck me to do it when someone asked me to host a beauty contest. I thought to myself, beauty contests are rather boring, why not start a pageant? And so I did. Only 30 girls sent the registration back, and were included in the competition. I say only, because hopefully next time I do a Miss Whyville Pageant, there will be hundreds of entries. So, I really cannot take any credit for this idea, it's pretty much Whyville history. I also decided to do this because I wanted to give girls everywhere a reason to come on Whyville everyday and check their y-mails.

Obvibeaut: Do you believe that Miss Whyville was something that made you want to come on Whyville everyday to see how you've done? Why or why not?
YoUrMoMxO: Yes! I love coming on Whyville everyday anyway, but to get a y-mail saying that I've made it to the next round just encourages me even more!

I believe this proves, that my pageant encouraged girls to come on Whyville a little more than usual. I love reading, and being able to feel the happiness some of these girls felt when they moved on. I felt their emotions, and that is why I will be doing this again sometime soon. Some parts of it were unfortunate though, because I took away hours of my fun time, so I could give other citizens of Whyville some fun, and some people took me for granted. Some were so upset with not moving on, that their main focus was trying to hurt my feelings. I must say the satisfaction in the end isn't very nice. Having every girl except for the winner hating me isn't a good feeling. And hopefully you will learn, that beauty contests do not mean anything in the real world.

The girls went through many tasks. In round one, I rated looks, personality, and their city records. I added up their scores to see their averages, and that is how the next group of girls moved on. In the second round, clams were donated to the prize pot (which motivates the girls to try their best, because they know the pot was getting bigger and bigger). Next, they had to write a petition. The topic of their petition was their choice, but I found the majority of girls did it on bullying, and things like that, which made me happy, because my Miss Whyville Pageant was all about bullying awareness, and being nicer to newer citizens. The last task for the second round was to answer a question: What do you think about Whyville dating? Glitzy101???'s answer had the highest rating.

Glitzy101: Yes, I do believe in Whyville dating, but there are limits...like keeping chat appropriate (appropriate enough to tell parents), and knowing whom you are talking too. Yes it can be dangerous, but if they don'???t tell personal information then they should be fine and if things start going bad they should tell a parent right away and not be afraid too. I think it helps pre-teens and teens grow confidence and self esteem for the future ahead of them.

In the third round, the girls had two tasks. The first task was answering a simple question: What is your favorite face part on you and why? Their second task was answering eight "yes" or "no" questions. In the fourth, and final round, the girls were asked the final questions, which were a series of questions regarding being Miss Whyville. Then, I again rated looks, personality, and city records. The girl with the highest total became Miss Whyville, who will be revealed later on in my article.

I am positive some of you are thinking, how could you possibly judge someone's beauty on a character? The answer to that is everything has beauty to it. Even the computer screen you stare at, at this moment has beauty. Beauty is everywhere. Why can't a silly, little, character have a sense of beauty to it? Maybe now you're saying to yourself, alright I understand that, but how are you judging these things? Here's your answer:

Look:
a) The look makes you not want to take your eyes off of them.
b) It sort of reveals who they are.
c) They have more than 1 hair on (it makes your look, look better).
d) They broaden their look (they go out of the box).
e) Finally, that it is unique.

That is a sample of how I judge things. Again, for my next pageant, I hope I have many, many, many contestants. Some who competed in this one, and others who haven't yet competed.

Now, I know the males are going to be jealous that there isn't a Mr. Whyville contest. Who knows, maybe a male can host that (again contact me for information), and then the winner of the male contest will have a dance in the auditorium with the winner of Miss Whyville.

So, ladies, I now most of you want to join the next pageant, right? Here are some tips on how you can get your looks, city records, and personalities ready for next time.

1) Again, wear more than 1 hair at a time. Say you like, a certain hair, buy 3 of them, and overlap them leaving a bit from each one. It lengthens your look, and makes you look bigger.
2) Be unique, and creative. Never just have a plain look. Try using freckles, or blush. It helps make your look even more realistic.
3) For personality, when I am talking to you be yourself. If you're hyper, be hyper. If you're calm, be calm. Just make sure, you always are yourself.
4) For your city records, the more unique the better. Honestly, if I go to someone's, and I see lyrics, or a poem, I love it. I melt in the words I hear, and I think it is beautiful. Especially when they are the person's own. They came from that person's heart, and they are sharing it with us. We are lucky.
5) If your city records have a list of your friends, or the paragraphs your friends wrote, that's another thing that gets your ratings high. It means you are loyal, and you are popular. It means that you make friends easily and being Miss Whyville would be a blast for you.
6) Again. Unique. Unique. Unique. I open my city records with a hello from me, and my dino. I think that it shows my silly humor. I hope when I read your records; I can feel who you are. That makes you that much more Miss Whyville material.

I would like to say, thank you for reading, thank you for competing if you have or ever will, and congratulations to everyone who competed.

Finally, the moment you have all waited for. Here are the top 5 out of 30 beautiful girls.

4th runner up: lioncub25
3rd runner up: paisley35
2nd runner up: YoUrMoMxO
1st runner up: Julyhotie

Your Miss Whyville: glitzy101

I would like to show you something lioncub25 said, "If you're the person whom people think is not good enough or people say, 'ew look at that girl' to you, just think to yourself I am better than them. They just feel sorry for themselves. Trust me you are beautiful, on the inside and out, and don't forget it."

Now a few words from, Miss Whyville, 1st runner up, and 2nd runner up:

Miss Whyville says:

"Hello. You may know me as Glitzy101 or you may know me as a friend, Alyssa, but now I want you all to know me as Miss Whyville. I thought this competition was an experience and I can tell you that right now. I loved the competition because it was friendly and inviting and the other girls were extremely nice and open. I enjoyed answering the essay questions because I got to let out my true feelings on subjects you rarely talk about to a friend on Whyville. Questions like if I came to you and said, 'Hey pal yo what's up yeah and by the way what do u think of why dating.' Of course your first impression would be somewhere around the 'Wow what a dork' but it shouldn't be that way. I think everyone should have a chance and to be heard at least a couple times in their lifetime well ok MUCH MORE than a couple. So next time someone comes to you with their feelings or their questions give them a chance you never know a week later they can be your best friend. I should know I shunned someone I thought was annoying but now we are best friends. I'd also like to congratulate the other girls in the competition and to say that everyone is adorable and pretty laugh out loud. I'm such a Dork but that's ok I don't care what people think. TRYOUT NEXT TIME PEOPLE! Girl power =D"

1st runner up said:

"Hello Whyville. My name is Sam, my account name is Julyhotie, and I was fortunate enough to get 1st runner up in the Miss Whyville 07 pageant. I thought that this competition was truly fun. It was hard to spell everything right and use good grammar though. I would like to congratulate Miss Whyville, Glitzy101 and the 2nd, 3rd and 4th runners up, YoUrMoMxO, paisley35 and lioncub25. I had a great time with this and will be back next pageant!"

2nd runner up said:

"My name is Meghan (YoUrMoMxO) and I was second runner up for the Miss Whyville Pageant held by Obvibeaut. I love all the things that I have become by Miss Whyville. All the times that I've thought about winning something as great as this, by stomach did flip-flops...which of course made me feel sick. Congrats to the new Miss Whyville, Glitzy101! You did an awesome job! And congratulations to all of the other beautiful and inspiring girls that ran for this event. I wanted to run for this because I thought, and knew, that if I ran for something like this, I could meet new girls, make new friends, and learn new things about me that I never knew I had inside of me. I loved this event, and I know I am going to run for it again." Thanks for reading!
