When I was little, my town was a safe place. We could play on the streets, take a walk, bike ride to the gas station with a friend, walk by yourself, and go to any Internet site without the chance of predators. Now what's happening to this place I used to call home?
The violence has got to stop. Pre-teens and teens all over and being killed, beaten, or threatened and for what: bogus reasons? I hear it on the news every night, or read it in the paper every morning, "Teen Beaten To Death." The suspect gives no reason for the violence, and if he/she does, it's one crayon short of a 12 pact.
It saddens me everyday to see, that another person was brutally murdered. I ask myself, and the rest of you, "What can we do to stop it?" We know it has to stop, but what can we do? I asked two Whyville citizens what they thought about this topic.
Obvibeaut: Have you noticed the amount of teen violence in your area increasing?
Rere8976: Yes, teen violence. My mom works at a high school; she says Gothics are being bullied more than regular kids.
L3monhead: Yes I have, at more high schools.
Obvibeaut: What do you think we could do to decrease this problem?
Rere8976: Everyone could and should do something they think is right and be kind to others.
L3monhead: Maybe we could have security guards at schools.
Obvibeaut: Thank you for your time.
Rere8976: No problem.
L3monhead: It was my pleasure.
Other citizens I asked couldn't really care less about this topic. It really is a big issue. This violence has to stop, or it will keep increasing. Soon we'll find that we can't even take a jog down our streets anymore. The places that we call, "home" will be no more than a nightmare.
Whatever it takes, we must make a difference. If you are one of the suspects, I am reaching out to you. Quit while you are ahead. You're hurting innocent people with bright lives ahead of themselves. They deserve respect, and so do you.
Safe someone's life, don't be the one who takes it away from them.
This is Obvibeaut,
Signing off to again, make a difference.
