Hey Whyvillians, this is Nolegirl6, back with hopefully another great review. I am reviewing a movie and a book this week, from the series that some people, including me, would consider a must-see/read. From the series of movies and books of Harry Potter, the latest move just came out on an odd day, Wednesday July 11. The thing that confused some people was when you went to a movie theater to see a different movie, the previews said July 13th, a Friday. But the date had been changed to the 11th. Anyways, on to the review!
The movie is Rated PG-13 "for sequences of fantasy violence and frightening images" and is two hours and eighteen minutes long. It is a Warner Brothers production. I strongly suggest this movie and book for people who have seen it and not read it, and vice-versa, along with people who like action and adventure movies. People who like Fantasy and Science Fiction would also enjoy this movie. The book is about 900 pages. The author is J.K. Rowling.

Last time we saw Harry and the gang Hogwarts was holding a competition called the Triwizard Tournament. When Harry and Cedric both grabbed the trophy at the end of the maze (first one to touch it wins) they were transported to a deserted place. That was when Cedric was killed by Lord Voldemort. Professor Dumbledore, Hermione, and Ron were the only ones who believed him.
The main characters are Harry Potter (in the movie played by Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), Ronald (Ron) Weasley (Rupert Grint), Lord Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes), Sirrius Black (Gary Oldman), Professor Dumbledore (Michael Gambon), Dolores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton), and many others. The director of the movie is David Yates. The book was written by J.K. Rowling, including all of the other books in the series.
"Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" takes place during Harry's fifth year at Hogwarts, when he is fifteen. The story is mainly about Harry, Ron, and Hermione forming a group of students for a battle class, which Harry becomes the teacher of, since their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Professor Umbridge of the Ministry of Magic, fails to let them use their wands. Professor Umbridge makes many rules at Hogwarts, some pretty silly ones, too. One of the being that all student groups are prohibited, making this new battle class against Hogwarts rules. Will Professor Umbridge discover their secret class? The Order of the Phoenix is a special organization of witches and wizards, that is brought back every time Voldemort is at large. Obviously, Voldemort is back, making this secret group come back. Of course, nobody believes that Voldemort is back. The only proof they have is Harry's word, having seen him in the previous book/movie.
According to Yahoo, the critics gave the movie a B (also known as Good), and the users gave it a B+ (Memorable). "The third (or maybe even second) best Potter movie," as said by Bob Longino of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, who rated the movie with a B-. "It's clear by now that Radcliffe, Watson and Grint were terrific casting choices, though this time Grint has little to do," as said by Michael Phillips of Chicago Tribune, who rated the movie a B. As for the book, Julie Smithouser, from the website pluggedinonline.com said this, "This is the fifth installment in J.K. Rowling'???s seven-book Harry Potter series. At nearly 900 pages (and containing more words than the New Testament) Rowling???'s latest endeavor remains true to her imaginative, unpredictable, Roald Dahlish style, but as Harry matures, so does the nature of the story."
To me, the book was a little confusing, but the movie wasn't better, and left out some parts that I really wanted to see put into the movie. I thought the book was better than the movie, but not by much. I loved the character Luna Lovegood. The way she talked made her seem like she was distracted, just like in the book. Evanna Lynch, the actress who plays Luna Lovegood, was very good at acting like Luna. I give this movie a B+, agreeing with the Yahoo users. I also think that they focused a lot on the adults in this movie, because pretty much all of the adults are Oscar winners.
So basically, this movie wasn't as good as some of the previous Harry Potter movies, and neither was the book. A movie can only be as good as the book it is based on. The critics thought the movie was good, but not memorable, as the Yahoo users thought it was memorable.
