Hey, it's mokey6, and I am back with a fifth "Interview With Planets". I am finishing off the outer planets with Uranus.
As is the case with all the other planets, Uranus is very unique. The other planets spin on the axis nearly vertical, but tilted a bit. Uranus spins on its axis nearly horizontal. But because of this something dealing with the poles and the equators is very odd, and is unknown to why it is. See, when Voyager 2 visited Uranus, the South pole was almost pointed exactly at the sun. So, the polar regions receive more energy input from the sun than the equator regions. But just like all the other planets Uranus's equator is hotter than its pole regions, even though it doesn't receive the bigger amount of energy.
Uranus is composed mostly of rock and various ices, but has about 15 percent hydrogen and very little helium. This makes Uranus different from two other gas planets, Saturn and Jupiter. This is because they are made up of mostly hydrogen.
Just like other gas planets, Uranus is covered with clouds the blow around rapidly. But unlike Jupiter, the clouds are very faint, and are visible by only very strong and close pictures.
Uranus's rings are like both the rings of Jupiter and Saturn. They are like Jupiter because they are very dark. They are like Saturn's because they are composed of large chunks, up to 10 meters long, but also of tiny bits, as small as dust.
Now it's time to meet and greet Uranus.
Mokey6: I got some information about your rings, but could you tell me how many rings you've got?
Uranus: Of course. I have 11 known rings, all of which are quite faint.
Mokey6: Do you have a favorite out of them?
Uranus: Well, if I had to say one was my favorite, it would be the nicest and brightest ring, the Epsilon ring.
Mokey6: Cool. So how many moons do you have?
Uranus: 27, I believe, that have been discovered so far.
Mokey6: Nice. Do you think Saturn complains about his rings too much?
Uranus: I most certainly do! Since I am sideways, I see things differently than all the others planets, so I can understand things a bit better. I realize that Saturn is just happy about how he was made, but he could take it down a notch, he is insulting and annoying the other planets.
Mokey6: So are you like the guidance counselor of the planets?
Uranus: Something like that. I would say I'm more like the therapist.
Mokey6: Cool. So what do you like the least about yourself?
Uranus: Hm . . . probably my name. It is mispronounced so much and it is getting to be a bit of an embarrassment.
Mokey6: Cool. So what do you like the best?
Uranus: My tilt. It makes me feel unique, but I know I'm not the only unique planet, and all of the planets are very unique and special in their own way. But it's nothing to brag abut. (Uranus quickly eyes Saturn with a evil look, but then quickly looks away)
That's all for now. This was mokey6.
