This summer, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix came out in 3D IMAX movie theaters. I was fortunate enough to go see it, but afterwards, I spoke to some of my Whyville friends with some conflicting views on 3D IMAX movies.

Alanna111, charmer63, glamer24, and master63 were kind enough to give me their opinions on 3D movies.

lianna99: So alanna111, what do you think of the new Harry Potter in 3D IMAX?
alanna111: It was so amazing! I loved the part that was in 3D and wish that the whole movie had been.
lianna99: Do you feel the same way about all 3D movies, or just Harry Potter?
alanna111: It was my first 3D movie, so I don't know, but I would definitely want to go see another 3D IMAX movie when it comes out!
lianna99: Did you see the regular version of the movie as well?
alanna111: Yes, and the 3D IMAX was much better.

lianna99: Charmer63, what did you think of the 3D IMAX version of Harry Potter?
charmer63: I thought it was really cool!
lianna99: Did you like the 3D part more than or less than the rest of the movie?
charmer63: There were a couple times during the 3D part, like when the thestrals were flying and the prophecies were falling that was amazing, but the rest of it was about as good as the rest of the movie.
lianna99: Have you seen any other movies in 3D?
charmer63: Yeah, I saw The Polar Express, and I thought it was just as good as Harry Potter.

lianna99: Glamer24, did you go see the new Harry Potter movie in 3D IMAX?
glamer24: Yes I saw it, but I didn't like it very much.
lianna99: Why not?
glamer24: The 3D part made me quite dizzy, and I could hardly watch it because I sat on the side of the theater.
lianna99: Are there any other reasons why you disliked it?
glamer24: Sometimes there were multiple images on the screen, and I ended up having to take my glasses off.
lianna99: Do you think it would be better if you sat in the middle of the theater?
glamer24: I don't know. I haven't seen any other IMAX movies, and I don't think I will.

lianna99: So master63, what is your opinion of the new Harry Potter movie in 3D IMAX?
master63: The movie itself is pretty good.
lianna99: You say "the movie itself" was good, but is there something you didn't like?
master63: I thought that the price for 20 minutes of 3D was much too high.
lianna99: Did you like the 3D part itself?
master63: It was as good as the rest of the movie, but where I live, the price for the IMAX movie was almost twice what it is to see it in a regular movie theater.

And there you have it, straight from some Whyville moviegoers. IMAX 3D can be either a thrilling way to view a new film, or it can be more of a hassle.
