Hi, this is ClairBare. Everything is serious or can become serious in life. I know I don't like things to be serious either. But we all have to deal with it. If you ever think about suicide or your friends do, please get help. No one could deal with that all by themselves.
This is the same situation about depression. You might think you have depression but maybe you really don't. Here are some signs that might indicate you have depression:
- Feeling VERY sad, tired, bored (more than have just nothing to do), pessimistic, hopeless, worthless, or helpless for an extended period for more than 2 weeks.
- Getting more colds than you're used to.
- Having a hard time concentrating, or making decisions (more than deciding what to buy at the candy shop) or remembering things.
- Not being interested in things you normally really like.
- Blowing off friends and family a lot -- more than usual
- Letting your grades drop big time (when you are in school).
- Loosing or gaining a lot of weight (don't try to starve yourself, that would just get you more problems).
- Sleeping a lot more than usual or not sleeping at all.
- Drinking heavily or taking drugs (that you usually don't take).
- Being WAY too harsh on people or violent.
- Getting physical/sexual when you don't really want to.
- Being obsessed with dying and suicide.
If you think or do have any of these symptoms, talk to a friend, a parent or, if you don't want to talk to somebody you know, you can call helplines especially made for this.
Here are two helplines for DEPRESSION, SUICIDE AND RUNAWAYS:
Covenant House National Hotline
(For Suicide and Runaways)
(800) 999-9999
Depression and Cutting Yourself
(Self-Injury) Information Hot Line
800 - DON'T ?? CUT ; 800 - 366 - 8288
These are real; I found these in a book. Don't be scared to call any of these numbers. You can not handle depression or suicide on your own.
I am sorry this is long but it is something that is serious. I thought about suicide once. I felt completely crazy. You have no clue what it is like. I didn't feel like I had the guts to cut myself with a knife. There are people who do, though, or shoot themselves with a gun.
This is no joke. If your friend starts talking about this, take it serious. Tell them not to do it. You never know, they could be on the news that night.
Thanks for taking the time to read this.
