In an unfortunate response to an increase in plagiarized articles being submitted to the Times, a new plagiarism policy is being instituted.
Plagiarism is defined as "the unauthorized use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and the representation of them as one's own original work."
The new policy is a 3 Strikes Policy:
1st time: You will be suspended from the Times for 2 weeks.
2nd time: You will be suspended from the Times for a month and stripped of any titles (such as Times Writer, Columnist, etc.).
3rd time: You will be permanently suspended from the Times (you will never be allowed to write for the Times again).
Plagiarism is stealing. It is not tolerated in your schools or in your life outside of Whyville, and therefore, it will no longer be tolerated in the Times.
I hope that all of you will take this policy to heart and continue to write original articles for the Times.
Yours in Whyville,
Times Editor
