So you're walking down the Hallway and what do you hear? "Can you believe what she is wearing? I heard she bought it from a flea market!" or "I heard he still sleeps with a nightlight!"
Do you know what all of this is? If you guessed gossip, you are correct! The definition of gossip is: idle talk or rumor, especially about the personal or private affairs of others.
This is basically saying, that gossip is when someone tries to spread something about another person that usually isn't true. Though almost everyone who can talk has probably gossiped before in their life, did you know that gossip can actually *gasp* hurt someone?
Well it can. It can hurt a human in many ways. How would you like it if your friends came up to you and said something that totally was not true, and said that the whole school was talking about it? I know I would feel like crud. There is nothing worse then having that feeling like you just want to hide form the world. I know I get it a lot.
Here are some tips about how you can stop the gossip:
1. If you hear it, or someone tells it to you, do not spread it!
2. If someone does tell it to you, make sure you tell that person to stop spreading it, because it could hurt any ones feelings.
3. Say someone comes up to you and gives you some juicy gossip, when someone asks something like, "Oh did you hear that she can't afford the newest cloths?" Simply say, "No."
4. Think about the gossip you hear long and hard, and you may find it impossible to be true, and even so, just ask yourself this question "Would I like this if someone was doing it to me?"
It's called the Golden Rule. As long as you follow it, you can be nice and stay away from all those nasty rumors people are spreading, and try to help stop them. You might not make a difference in the world, but you can make a difference in someones day.
Thanks for your time, and I hope this might have changed your perspective on gossip.
This is boymusic going to enjoy this nice fall day!
