Oldbies,(yes that's you guys, y-mail helpers!) do you remember when you were new to Whyville? I know I do. People were rude and disrespectful to Newbies. I hated every second of it, and I want to try and help change that by giving Newbies the proper guidance all in one place! Here! So come on, keep reading, you know you want to . . .
The very first question that I asked when I first made an account was, What in the world is this place and what can I do here?
Whyville is an online virtual world where kids can have fun by chatting with other people from around the world, while learning and becoming more mature than we thought we could be at this age. We can make our own avatars by going to Akbar's Face Mall on the Destination Menu, we can play fun games based on learning for quick and easy clams, we can talk with our friends and catch up on everything at school, we can buy cars, projectiles, furniture, and much much more! Whyville is just too big to summarize it all up! So go on and explore! But not yet . . .
The next question after learning what Whyville is, is probably going to be, How can I chat with other people?
Well, if you're under the age of 13, then you must have your parents sign a form and mail/fax it to Whyville. To get this permission slip and where to send it, go to Permission Slip on the Destination drop down menu.
If you're over 13, you have to take the chat license test (note: If you are under age 13 you still must complete this test in order to chat). To take the chat license test, go to the Homepage of Whyville and click on, "You haven't taken your chat license test".
How do I get clams?
There are tons of games around Whyville to make fun and easy clams such as: the Cafeteria, Kinematic Attic, and of course, your salary ledger (located in your red satchel on the bus). The Cafeteria games are great for beginners to Whyville. The salary ledger is for your DAILY SALARY, which means, that you do not get the clams once, but every time you log on. Cool huh? Think what would happen if you had a salary for 100 clams, you would get 100 clams just for logging in! But don't rush, you have plenty of time to get your salary high. Take it easy and relax.
How can I check my y-mail?
To check your y-mail, click on the black cell phone above the bus. For help on y-mail, click on Help.

Someone just told me some really nasty things, what can I do?
If someone has said or done something that you don't like or has made you uncomfortable, then while in chat, double click on the person's face and select Vaporize, Silence, or 911 Report. Vaporize means that you will never EVER have to hear or see him again. Silence means that you can see his face, but you won't see what he says. Now, the 911 tool is only for emergencies. If someone starts breaking out saying bad words, then this is when to select 911 Report. Please remember the time, place, and reason(what he/she did).
