Most kids these days rely on iPods and MP3 Players to cure their boredom during the day. I, myself, love to listen to my iPod during passing time in school as well as my free time at the end of class; unfortunately many schools around the U.S. are beginning to ban the use of mechanical devices due to the loss of attention in class!

It was only this year that my High School began to ban students of listening to any sort of electronic devices on the school premises. If were are even caught with one of these electronics in our possession we would have it discarded and brought to the office until the end of the day when we were able to pick it back up again with a parent! Many kids and even teachers were outraged by this new law and wanted to fight against it.

I am a member of my student council with 15 other students. We think of ideas to improve our school and establish plans for homecoming, proms, and other activities students can be involved in. Recently we have talked with several teachers on their ideas of the banning of MP3 players and each and everyone one of them disapproved. We talked to our computer teacher who is in charge of the announcements and all the technology in our school and we gave the idea to start playing music over the intercom in the hallways during passing time; she thought it was an amazing idea!

Now, everyday we have the ability to listen to the music we prefer in school without the trouble we could get in with MP3 players! Even better, this new idea prevents students from defying the new rule of banned electronics. So far all the music played in the hallways has been old 80?s music requested by the teachers, but soon more students will bring in CD mixes from ?our day? so we all can pass to our next class with pleasure!
