Hello Whyville! Unfortunately, the good ol' days of Trivia Time with CW Neutral came to a halt many months ago. We all mourned the loss of our much-loved geeky City Worker and the loss of the opportunity to win a couple of hundred clams (if you were smart enough) each week. However, Friday the Ninth of November saw the return of that familliar little icon on the calendar. I just had to go check that out.
In true Trivia Time spirit, I arrived early. Much to my embarrassment, I was the only one there. This seemed a bit odd to me as when Neutral hosted Trivia, the room would be starting to fill up at least an hour before and you were lucky to get in the Greek Theatre under half an hour before the start of the show!
However, some of my long lost Whyville buddies arrived and we chatted for a bit. Then, a mysterious force started playing a game with us on the presentation window. They'd draw a picture and we'd have to guess what it was. It was mostly aimed at sports although I believe everyone wanted pickles. Here's a sample:
This didn't go on for too long (the mysterious force needed their lunch before Trivia). Eventually, people started dribbling in including many familiar faces and a grandma. At 5 minutes to, this announcement was made.
Then on the hour, CW coolethan revealed herself as the new host of Trivia. She got straight to the point with her questions. Now, coolethan ran Trivia in a different style to Neutral. Whereas Neutral would ask an audience question, then bring the winner down and see if they could go up the money scale (first question right - 25 clams, second ? 50, third ? 100 and so on), Coolethan just asked questions and asked the audience to record the results for her.
Ps2man1 led a strong lead for the majority the competition but he was soon caught up by thePRINCE and dcasey. All three of them scored three points and were brought down to the stage for a Sudden Death Round and were asked the question (approximately) "What is a Sea Nettle also known as?". The answer was a jellyfish which thePRINCE got first. She didn't get a prize but she did get a stunning crown and sceptre.
I liked Trivia this week. I think it's mainly because I was craving Trivia again but this one was fun and well-organized. Apart from Coolethan disappearing quite a few times and it not being as structured as Neutral's, it was a fun 50 minutes. Also, I have a feeling that coolethan types a lot quicker than Neutral ;-).
Thank you for Reading,
