"Ooh, this is an S.O.S., don't want a second guess, this is the bottom line, it's true; I gave my all my all for you, now my heart's in two, and I can't find the other half; it's like I'm walking on broken glass, better believe I bled, it's the call I'll never get"
Recognize those lyrics? That's right! They're from the Jonas Brothers' hit song "S.O.S." You may or may not know much about the Jonas Brothers, but that's why I'm here.
The band actually consists of six members, although the three members you probably know are Nicholas, Joseph, and Kevin. But what you may not know is that there are three more members who play back-up instruments, like John Taylor, who plays guitar; Greg Garbowsky, who plays bass guitar; and Jack Lawless who plays the drums. But we're only going to learn about the main members. So first, let's learn a few basic facts about the guys.
Nicholas, Nick for short, was born on September 16, 1992 in Dallas, Texas, making him 15 years old and the youngest of the band. Nick is basically the reason why the Jonas Brothers got signed. Originally, it was just supposed to be a solo project for him, but the producer decided to make it a brother act. Nick had already made a CD at this point, but after his brothers joined the act, he left it unreleased. Nick sings main vocals, and plays guitar, drums, and piano. He writes many of the songs, including "S.O.S." He wrote that in under 15 minutes! Nick is currently rumored to be dating Miley Cyrus, although neither of them has confirmed it.
Now onto Joseph (Joe.) Joe was born on August 15, 1989 in Casa Grande, Arizona making him 18 years old and the middle child of the band. He is considered to be the "funny man" of the group, which is true if you've ever watched an interview with him. Joe sings lead vocals, along with Nick, as well as playing the guitar, keyboard, and tambourine. He also dated Mandy, writing the hit song about her afterwards, "Mandy".
Finally, we are onto Kevin. Kevin was born on November 5, 1987 in Teaneck, New Jersey, making him 20 years old and the oldest of the group. Kevin sings backup vocals, except for on a few songs like "Mandy" and "Don't Tell Anyone" where he sings a bit of lead vocals, and plays guitar. Kevin is considered to be the "more mature" one, although in a few recent videos, he acts like a bit of a goofball himself, LoL.
But wait! Let's not forget the bonus Jonas, Frankie! Frankie is the youngest sibling in the family, although he is not in the band. Frankie was born on September 28, 2000 in Wyckoff, New Jersey, making him seven years old. When his brothers asked him if he was going to join the band, Frankie said no because he is going to start his own band.
Now that we have the basics covered, let's move onto the discography. In 2006, the Jonas Brothers released their debut album, It's About Time. "Mandy" even made it onto MTV's TRL for a while! Not bad for a debut! Then, in August, they released their self-titled sophomore album, with hit songs like "S.O.S." which in also on TRL at the moment, and "Hold On," which you may have heard from the Hollywood Cafe when the brothers were featured on there. Finally, on October 30 of this year, the Jonas Brothers released the Bonus Jonas edition, a follow-up of their self titled CD. The Bonus Jonas edition includes two new songs; "Take a Breath" and "We Got The Party," a duet with Hannah Montana.
Speaking of Hannah Montana, on August 18 of this year, an episode of "Hannah Montana" premiered, featuring the Jonas Brothers as themselves. The episode starts with Hannah Montana waiting to use the recording room, but because somebody else is already using it, she decides to barge in only to find, yes, that's right, the Jonas Brothers! The episode continues as the Jonas Brothers ask Billy Ray Cyrus, also Hannah/Miley's father, to write a song for them, and Billy Ray agrees. Eventually, Hannah/Miley begins to get jealous because of all the fun that Billy Ray is having with the Jonas Brothers. In the end, Billy Ray makes the song a duet for both Hannah and the Jonas Brothers, hence "We Got The Party" on the Bonus Jonas edition.
As well as making an appearance on "Hannah Montana", the Jonas Brothers have been featured on a variety of talk and award shows such as "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", the Teen Choice awards 2006 & 2007, the American Music Awards, "Live With Regis & Kelly" (in the Bahamas) and many more!
Wow, that is a LOT of information. Did you catch all of that? :)
I am now going to leave you with an extremly random Jonas quote.
Nick Jonas: "Board games make me bored."
This is tbear10, signing out.
Author's Note: Most of the information from the article came from what I know about the band myself, but I had a little help from http://www.jonasbrothers.com/, http://jbfan.org/, http://www.imdb.com/, and http://jonasweb.org/.
