I occasionally go to the poll booth when I have nothing to do. I like to see what Oldbies and Newbies are thinking of to make Whyville a better place. "Share your art in Yville!" one petition says. "Movie Theaters!" "More Games!" "Cheaper Scions!" But then . . . "Whyville needs a church," "Help spread the word of God," "Jesus rocks," "Churches," and "Sanctuaries".

Here are a few "church" petitions:

"Do you go to church? Well, a couple people have died in my family and i think we should have a church.. every Sunday at whatever time we make up. their doesn't have to be a service but we can put in prayer requests? Thanks for listening!"

"I really think we should have a church so anyone can come a learn about god and have fun but we should have a youth group for us teens and kids group for kids and adult group for adults and we should have a pastor for each group it would really be great! :)"

It's not that these ideas are bad or wrong. It's just that Whyville is a place for friends and learning, not for religion. There are other religions out there other than Christianity. And . . . there are several other branches of Christianity too.

I'm not against Christians, nor am I against any other religion. That's the LAST thing I want. I'm just saying, Whyville shouldn't be a website based on religion. Whyville should be a website based on fun, games, friends, family, and education.

What good would it be for Whyville to make a church anyway? A virtual building, discrimination, fights. I only think building a church, or any other kind of religious foundation would just create a total disaster and tear Whyville apart. And, the internet isn't made for religion anyway. If you really want to help out your religion, go sort out a group in your community or share your feelings with your parents.

Whyville isn't meant for religion.
