In the Dec. 19, 2007 edition, BabyPowdr wrote an article called "Remaking the Remakes of Remakes" and expressed her opinions on the positivity of remakes. Most Whyvillians in the BBS seemed to agree that remakes were fair and collecting rares was pathetic.

I have to disagree. Most of these Whyvillians were being hypocritical in the BBS. They're the ones wearing rare face parts and selling their face parts for thousands of clams. They're doing what they feel is pathetic.

I collect rares and I don't care how pathetic you think that is. I'm not saying I'm conceited and I only wear rares. But I do collect them. I like the way the look, and the way rares are designed. You don't find face parts like these nowadays. One of the rares I collect is long shirts. Akbar doesn't allow long shirts to be sold at Akbar's Face Mall anymore. I pay reasonable amounts of clams to have these long shirts in my possession.

I also "hunt" for older Whyvillians who still have their old face parts. Is it wrong? Is it pathetic? No, it's not. In fact, it's similar to what people do in real life. They pay a reasonable amount of money for the clothes they want. Also in real life, vintage lovers "hunt" for old fashioned clothes.

When one of my rare face parts is remade, I get angry because I feel ripped off. Remakes take away the business of buying and selling original rare face parts. Sometimes remakes can be unfair because without knowing, you could be wasting your clams when you buy a rare. I'm putting my clams at risk when I buy rares, because they might be remade in the next week or the next year. Some people will probably say "don't buy rares if they might be remade" but it's a chance I'm willing to take.

Some people will argue there's no point in buying a rare if it MIGHT be remade. But MIGHT is the key word here. It's unfair that I'll pay 15,000 for a shirt and end up selling it for 5,000 because of a remake. For that reason, designers shouldn't remake rare face parts. You're ripping us off. However, what about the Whyvillians who can't afford the shirt for 15,000 clams? The remake helps them and not me.

So am I against remakes or am I for remakes? I really don't know. But I've remade face parts before. Personally, I make remakes because I want the face part in a different style or color. The way I see it, I'm remodelling them. Also, almost every object in life is a remake. Everyday items such as money and clothes are being remade to be shared with everyone. Sometimes Whyvillians do the same thing and remake rare face parts for Whyvillians who can't afford them.

Fashion and design is a way of inspiring others. Fashion is also constantly evolving. From the blob-like large face parts in 1999, to long shirts in 2002, to short shirts in 2007. Also, Whyville's face parts are based on real life. On Whyville designers have remade the shirts, headbands, makeup and plushies they see in real life. But companies and stores such as Covergirl, Hollister and Sesame Street aren't suing Whyville.

However, I'm against remakes because it's a rip off someone's hard work and original creation. Imagine making a face part and having another designer remake it and sell it at a lower price. You'd feel ripped off.

Remakes: sometimes they help, and sometimes they hurt. In my opinion if someone wants a rare face part, they should pay what it's worth. It's only fair. I think designers should intelligently choose what to remake and what not to remake. Remakes benefit Whyvillians, and if you're going to rip off someone, then make sure it won't be by a large amount of clams.

If you want to remake something, make sure you have the designer's permission. If you want a face part in a different shape or style, ask the designer to make it for you. If they disagree, then I feel you have every right to remodel the face part.
