From old school skateboards and homemade swing sets swaying in the summer breeze.
I am from the wild blueberry fields glistening with morning due, and cucumber sandwiches (that smell like summer.)
I am from the hundred year old cherry trees, I could never climb their branches,
The dandelions sprouting from blades of grass, while I attempted to wash the awful taste off my tiny fingers.
I am from clementines in the winter and opening all presents on Christmas Eve.
From icy blue eyes and fair skin.
I am from the Gaelic speaking farmer's son, Bryden, and the singing milkman's daughter, Ruth.
I am from joking, smiles, laughter, and good humor.
From try your best and be kind to others,
I am from do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.
I am from a fog smothered island, by the sea,
Wild strawberries and apples.
From my sister's pink circus candy stuck to my sleepy head.
The squirrels that scurried into the house scribbling on her new Barbie dolls.
I am from a dusty three-ring binder, shoved under my bed, scattered photos and drawings, and lost thoughts of the past . . .
