Hello there! This is Ps2man1 joining you on a very special Tuesday when it comes to the US primary elections. Any guesses? No, I don't think any primary candidates care that it's Taco Tuesday in your cafeteria. NO, it's not Christmas. Or Easter Sunday . . . wait, didn't I say Tuesday? Okay, okay, I'll give you the answer: it's Super Tuesday!
If you didn't read the last edition, you may not know what primaries are. Primaries (or Primary Elections), are state-wide elections that happen to decide the main candidate of the Democratic or Republican Party. ( www.democrats.org and www.gop.org ). There are also other parties, but we won't focus on them.
Anyway, today is Super Tuesday! The biggest primary election day in the US. The primaries of twenty-four states occur on this day! This is about half of the primary elections, excluding caucus states (I also explained caucuses in the last article -- more intimate meetings in some smaller states where people get a better view on the candidates), like Iowa and Nevada.
24 states! Super Tuesday can make or break a candidate's chance at winning! The 24 states that participate in the Super(duper) Tuesday Primary Elections are:
- California (the biggest prize Super Tuesday has to offer)

-Oklahoma
-Missouri
-Minnesota
-North Dakota
-Illinois
-Arkansas
-Mississippi

-Montana (only Republican primary)
-Idaho (only Democratic primary)
-Kansas (only Democratic primary)
and - New Mexico (only Democratic Primary)
That's a LOT of states, isn't it?
There have been no new drop outs as of this week, so the candidates still in this election are Hilary Clinton, Barack Obama, Mike Gravel (although there is zero to none of a chance for him to win, sadly), Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Ron Paul and John McCain. In the Democratic party, Clinton and Obama are neck and neck when it comes to who is expected to garner the most votes in the Democratic Super Tuesday primaries, and John McCain is the frontrunner of his party, the Republicans, followed by Mitt Romney, and trailing behind them two is Mike Huckabee.
Mitt Romney is said to need a miracle to stay in this election, and that miracle may be winning a huge state like California today. Hilary and Obama haven't fought as much as they did a few weeks ago.
Tomorrow, (or the day that this will probably come out -- Wednesday) there will be results!
