Hello fellow Whyvillians! I'm back to continue this column and to tell you about other new and unfamiliar bands and artists. Before I start, though, I'd like to tell you a little bit more about my future ideas for this column and why I qualify to write it. Ever since I was little, I have loved music. I love listening and comparing different styles and artists. Music has let me break free and express myself. I like to listen to all genres of music and love finding new and interesting artists to listen to. I have very good ideas for this column as well. I plan to inform you each week about new and amazing artists. I will include at least two artists or bands in each article and tell you a little bit about their songs and styles. I hope that this column will go far. Also, ideas for future columns would be about music around the world and what kinds of music other countries listen to.
Okay, so now that I have explained that, let's get started!
First off is . . . Red! Red is a Christian heavy metal band. It was formed in Nashville, Tennessee in 2004. Members of Red include Anthony Armstrong (guitar), Jasen Rauch (guitar), Hayden Lamb (drums), Randy Armstrong (bass and piano), and Michael Barnes (vocals and piano). Past members of the band include Andrew Hendrix, who formerly played the drums. Red is an amazing band whose lyrics are about salvation and forgiveness. The minute I heard one of their songs, I knew that I had to put them in this article! Their debut album, End of Silence, came out June 6, 2006. It included some of the hit singles, "Breathe into Me," "Already Over," and "Hide". The band also showed its soft side with their song, "Pieces". Red is a great band that appeals to Christians and rock lovers alike. I suggest people who listen to screamo and heavy metal to listen to this band! I guarantee that you will love them!
Next on the list is . . . Marie Digby! Marie Digby is a very new pop artist. With down-to-earth songs and an amazingly good voice, she's bound to go far! She performed in various night clubs and came into the public eye by winning the Pantene Pro-Voice Music Competition with her song "Miss Invisible". Her big claim-to-fame, though, was when she posted homemade videos of some of her songs on Youtube. They instantly became very popular. Her hit single, "Umbrella" is an acoustic version of Rihanna's hit song "Umbrella". I have to admit, it's awesome! Her debut album, Unfold, is to come out April 8, 2008, so mark your calendars! If you love acoustic songs, relaxing lyrics, and sweet, innocent vocals, you've got to listen to Marie Digby!
