"There are two different types of people who want to enter the business: those who want to act because they recognize their natural talent, or believe they can learn the art and there are those who desire fame. If you think you have what it takes, then get your butt out there, and go for it!"

A Blessed Beginning

This multi-talented actress was born on May 14th, 1983 in Santa Monica, California. Her mother Bonnie Murray is a singer and artist. Her father Russ Tamblyn was one of the most successful and well-known actors of his generation. Growing up with a father in the entertainment industry, the Californian native decided to pursue acting and began appearing in theater productions when she was 4 years-old. At the age of 10 she performed in "Pippi Longstocking" and at the end of the show, she was approached by an agent.

Popular Portrayl

After watching her impressive acting in "Pippi Longstocking" the agent offered her a contract, and soon the world began to know Amber Rose Tamblyn. Amber is most recognized for her first role as Emily Bowen-Quartermaine on the soap opera "General Hospital". But playing Joan Girardi in "Joan of Arcadia" gained Amber international recognition.

A Gifted Group

"My parents cultured me a lot and they introduced me to a lot of artists, a lot of their friends."

Amber was inspired to become an actress from her father. However her mother provoked her hobbies in the arts; Amber enjoys singing, dancing and writing poetry. Though Amber has no plans to pursue careers in singing and dancing, she is a published poet.

Passionate Poet

"I think that poetry, for me, might be less about the performance and more about the words."

Her first poem "Kill Me So Much" was published in the San Francisco magazine CUPS when Amber was only 10 years-old. Since then, Amber has written two poetry books; 'Free Stallion' and 'The Loneliest'. She has also worked in various cities across America, and collaborated with musicians, magicians and poets for onstage poetic performances.

Awards & Accomplishments

Amber was nominated for 9 awards for playing Joan Girardi in "Joan of Arcadia." These awards are the Saturn Award (nominated twice, won once), Emmy Award, Golden Globe, Golden Satellite Award (nominated twice), Teen Choice Award (twice) and Young Artist Award. In total she was nominated for 13 awards and won 3 of them.

A Continuing Career

"I think I relate to all the characters in one way or another. I'm a chameleon like that."

Amber has 3 films coming out this year; Safety Glass, Spring Breakdown and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2. She will also appear in the 2009 flick 'Beyond a Reasonable Doubt.' Amber Tamblyn is a very talented young actress and though she was a rebellious teenager, she is smart enough to realize the dangers of Hollywood. With her parents' talented genes, her cutting edge personality and sharp comments, Amber will have a long lasting career.
