Whyvillians have many issues with their faces. For the next few weeks I am going to focus on these issues and how to improve them. The past "Flawed Fashion" articles had the basic issues but now I am going to focus on each attribute and the incorrect ways Whyvillians use them. This week I chose eyes. It is very simple to put a pair of eyes on your face -- place them in the middle of your face, under your hair. But the following Whyvillians turned the simplicity of eyes into fashion disasters.

The Girls

Girls are more fashion focused than boys. This is not a stereotypical statement because there is evidence of this wherever fashion is involved. But females are also more fashion challenged than males, especially the girls on Whyville. They have many incorrect methods of creating their avatars when making a girl face is extremely simple!

Tip 1: It isn't wise to have a Cyclops eye.

When girls wear layered hair or a hair with bangs, one of their eyes is blocked. These girls are not flawed because they only have one visible eye. What bothers me is that some Whyvillians choose to wear extremely large eyes and when one eye is cut off, they look like Cyclops!

Tip 2: Eyes don't belong on foreheads.

In real life we do not have eyes on our foreheads! So why do people place their eyes on their foreheads on Whyville? This gives the illusion that these Whyvillians have long faces.

Tip 3: Eyes over hair makes me scared.

Designers put a lot of detail and creativity into making girls' eyes. Eyes are one of the prettiest face parts on Whyville because they are colorful and unique. I think these girls put their eyes over their hair to show off their eyes instead of hiding them under their hair. But to me, this is atrocious. It never works and it never makes someone look attractive. No one has eyeballs coming out of their hair and no one should!

The Boys

Boys don't really have any problems adjusting eyes on their face. Their issues aren't as major as the problems girls have.

Tip 1: Over-layered hair isn't something to wear.

Many boys on Whyville layer their hair, but they forget to include their eyes. They want people to think their eyes are under the hair. Sometimes this illusion works, but in this case it doesn't. To pull off this look, you need to have more than 1 hair because it IS called layering. You also need to make your eyes VISIBLE underneath those long tresses.

In last week's article I had requests to show avatars arranged correctly. The following Whyvillians have their eyes placed properly. Unintentionally, they are all following my tips. Ignore the fact that some of these Whyvillians have other flaws . . .

I would greatly appreciate it if you responded to the following questions in the BBS: Are these looks appealing to you? Why do people choose to arrange their faces this way? Is it a mistake or something done on purpose? I don't understand why Whyvillians do this. It isn't appealing to me because it makes Whyvillians look alienated and weird. So why don't these hideous trends ever disappear? They're continuous every year. It's 2008 -- hence my hat. Why not try rearranging your face a little differently and break free from these trends?

Author's Note: Though it may not look like it, the redhead in Tip 3 DID put her eyes over her hair. This is visible in chatrooms but not as much on her City Records.
