My son Fred always makes me smile
His grin could light up a Christmas tree
He giggles at the most meaningless things
His sense of the world is just so free
But Fred can take forever to calm down
The slightest change can provoke tears
He screams for normal, he begs for routines
Change is among his worst fears
Fred has the most impressive mind
He memorized a calender from 1978
He'll tell you where each date landed in the week
The neighbor kids all think it's so great
They don't talk to Fred very much though
He's a little unusual, you see
He doesn't like loud noise or parties
Fred's happiest when you let him be
Only, I can't leave him alone all night
'Cause he can never fall asleep
We've tried doctors and music
And the classic counting sheep
But Fred loves his own little world
It's unusual, but that's fine
Fred has Kanner's Syndrome
And Fred is twenty nine
