Author's Note: This is a short story I wrote for my sixth grade class. This is the first part, and I might turn it in to a novel. Please give me your opinions in the BBS and tell me if I should continue the story.

I discovered that there are creatures in this world that not many people know about. A girl named Sarah can see things that you normally only see in movies or dreams.

Myself, am now a teenager have been living with these creatures for years. I first started seeing things on my eighth birthday.

At first I told my parents everything, but that just landed me in every psychiatrist's office. I got tired of being asked, "How do you feel about the goblins?" Actually the bald man sitting in front of me with a clip board was scarier. I gave all of them the same simple answers.

One evening I overheard my neighbor say to my parents, "She's just in a phase, don't worry so much." So I did just that, I acted like it was just a phase I got over. Their voices burned a memory in my head, I hated seeing my parents troubled.

Now I'm thirteen, and used to all the creatures coming in and out of the yard. I was even friends with a few of them. I still get a lump in my throat when I want to tell my mom something about them. I just couldn't let them worry about me anymore.

Suddenly, I snapped out of my thoughts as the bus jolted over a pot hole. I rolled my eyes and smiled. These little things that happen make me sure that I'm not completely crazy. Every day after school I get on the school bus and go over the same pot hole over and over again. I looked around, there were about six people left on the bus now, that meant it was almost my time to get off this old bus.

Finally, the bus slowed to a stop at the bottom of a hill. I gathered up my stuff, walked down the aisle, and hopped the steps down. I slowly turned my head up like I do everyday. I've probably burned off so many calories walking up this hill. If only I could have fairy wings and fly up it. A few long minutes later I was looking at a two-story brown house shadowed by a few trees. No cars in the driveway meant that mom was out shopping and dad was at work. I stopped to catch my breath then continued on.

I walked in to the house grabbing an apple on my way upstairs. I was surprised when I saw myself at the top of the stairs. My long brown hair, greenish brown eyes were there in front of me. Mom must've hung up the new mirror. Did she want me to she my sweaty self everyday in the mirror after walking up that hill?

Not to my surprise a goblin that has been walking along in the hall lately was sitting outside my door. Goblins are generally about 3 feet tall and have brown and green scales. They look like a big lizard that walks on two feet. "Hey Sarah," the goblin said. "Oh hey can you help me with my homework?" He tried to scoff but it sounded too snake-like. "I don't know why you humans need to learn this. It's all nonsense-ss!" He hissed. I guess that was his excuse because goblins aren't usually very bright.

Then the goblin followed me as I opened my yellow door to my room. As usual spirits were flying around everywhere. "By the way, what's your name?" I asked politely. From my knowledge goblins don't have a very good temper. At my eleventh birthday some goblins started a fight over who got the moldy cake. "It's Raffa," he grunted. "Nice name."

Sitting on my bed was my fairy friend, Juli. She was about up to my hip, the average height for fairies. Her pointy ears were poking out of her shoulder-length auburn hair. I wanted Juli's eyes, perfectly shaped and a mossy green.

I was about the only human they could trust. Maybe even the only person who could see them, but I wasn't completely sure about that. Juli insulting the human race in a conversation was normal. "How was your math test Sarah?" Juli asked in her sing-song voice. "Alright." "Like I've always said, humans waste their time trying to learn everything. You can't." This time her voice got a little harder. She glanced at my apple and her face scrunched up. "I can smell the chemicals from here."

Suddenly, I heard the car door slam and the spirits flew out the window. They didn't like humans, well besides me. Only Juli and Raffa were used to them. I kept having to remind myself not to talk to them. My parents just stopped worrying about me a few years ago. My parents would be worried even more tomorrow.

The following day, I decided to ride my bike to school. Juli agreed because she strongly disliked humans for polluting the air.

In the morning I was peddling at a medium pace. I made it to school and locked my bike up. My back pack felt light and I realized my math book had fell out. I took two steps off the curb when I remembered to check for cars. From the corner of my eye I saw a fairy, her eyes huge with horror. I started running across the street to the fairy. Next everything happened in sections. I heard tires screech, a pain on my right side, then I heard a loud scream which I realized was mine.

My eyes fluttered open, then squinted from the whiteness of the room. The continuous beeping was very irritating. I had to take in everything, then my brain slowly registered the information. I was in the hospital. When my mom came in I learned I had a broken leg, bruising, and minor memory loss.

A few days later I was back in my own room. My missed homework was spread out on my bed with eraser marks everywhere."Having trouble? Even a goblin can do this." A beautiful little girl said. "Wha- who are you?" I thought as I tried to find the right words. "It's Juli you know the fairy who you've known for like forever," she said, her voice worried and annoyed at the same time. Great I thought instead of losing memories, I've gone crazy. Okay prove it then. Wait let me guess I hang out with unicorns and goblins too?" "Um no unicorns, but a goblin is around you daily." After she proved she was a fairy by flying around my room. I was shocked.

Right away I knew I wasn't imagining it. "M-mom!" I yelled. She came in to my room and asked,"Honey what's wrong?" "Theres a freaky flying goblin thing over there!" My finger pointy at the bed. Juli snorted, "How insulting, a goblin." With a worried pained expression my mom sat me down and said that I hit my head hard. It probably brought out memories of my make believe friends from when I was little.

"Oh, okay." I said but truly I didn't understand anything. I could see them all clearly. What was wrong with me?

I have to stop here. Will Sarah remember the creatures? Why was that fairy scared? Will her parents think she's crazy?
