Sorry for the two week delay, but "Flawed Fashion" is finally back.
Don't you hate spending hours searching Akbar's Face Mall for inexpensive face parts? Sure, the Trading Post is available but it's even worse. Unfair trading and scamming lurks the Trading Post as Whyvillians sell cheap face parts for thousands of clams just to make a profit. While on the other side of the fence, poor Whyvillians are looking to find bargains.
Well your troubles can finally come to an end! This article's theme is 'Cheap Chic'. I created a few faces that hopefully will not break your budget. Thankfully none of the avatars cost more than 250 clams. These looks are universal and the face parts are suitable for different types of girls with different skin tones and styles.
Making these faces was simple. But what was not simple was hunting for cheap face parts. If this is what I had to go through in a week, I cannot imagine what low income Whyvillians have to struggle with on a daily basis. Just the real world it should not be difficult to find face parts to your liking. In real life there are several stores that sell clothing, accessories, jewelery, etc. for low prices. Why not do the same on Whyville? Not everyone can afford Hollister, Abercrombie & Fitch, American Eagle, just as on Whyville, not every one of us are able to purchase (or even find!) face parts we like. How fair is that?
To the designers it seems simple. You can price face parts as high as your salary. Since most designers do have large salaries, their face parts reflect on their income. So while we're suffering and spending our money, designers are getting rich. Seems like the real world eh? Not quite. Sure there are MANY rich designers: Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Baby Phat's Kimora Lee. But designers who create regular clothing are rich as well. They want to help low income families because they know that not everyone is able to live lavish lifestyles as they are. So they make sure their goods are affordable. Why can't it be the same on Whyville?
Are we THAT stuck up? Are we THAT full of ourselves? Absolutely. Our needs exceed our wants. We WANT scions decked out in cool parts and awesome decals, homes with several rooms, rare face parts, etc. We WANT to look rich. We WANT to be cool. Sometimes we think these things are so important that we consider them as 'needs'. I NEED to have a scion. That isn't how we should work. That shouldn't be our mentality because it's ridiculous. If you can afford it, then buy it by all means. They're just meaningless little pixels, right?
When I was little my mother taught me an important phrase: Help others but help yourself first. Nonetheless, always remember that there are those who are less fortunate than you are. I feel that Whyvillians should apply this phrase to their whylives because it's such a great motto to live by. I feel like a hypocrite because I've contradicted myself in this entire article. I wear rare face parts. I own scions. I have a home with many rooms. See, when I joined Whyville, I set goals for myself. I looked at the other members around me and was so impressed by what they had that I wanted it too! If they can have it, why can't I? I worked for what I wanted and now I'm grateful that I have a large salary and that I don't have to struggle on Whyville. I can't remember how it feels to struggle anymore, I just know that I did. However there is a difference between my thought process and the motivations of designers. I did not step on or hurt the people around me to get where I am. That's the opposite of what designers are doing. They want to be rich so they sell expensive face parts. They do not realize that they are hurting others and putting them in difficult situations. Keeping my childhood phrase in mind, designers need to open their eyes and actualize that they've already accomplished some of their ambitions and it's time to help others do the same.
I know that some designers price their face parts based on how long it took them to make the face part. I have some friends who are designers and that's what they tell me. Looking at their creations, I realize that they are telling the truth because heck, I cannot make hair to save my life. I don't want to cause Whyvillians the shame of wearing the hair blobs I make (but they're the most interesting blobs I've ever seen!). I agree with this methodology doing BUT that does not mean everything you make has to have similar expensive prices. If you can use your eyes to create face parts, why can't you use them to see that you're hurting people.

Aside from these designers, it is not impossible to find inexpensive face parts at Akbar's Face Mall. I recommend searching under the 'Part Category' for cheap items.
