Author's Note: Welcome to another edition of "Continental Curiosity"! This week is all about North America. This is my home location!
Interesting Fact:
Did you know?
North America consists of three major countries, the U.S, Canada, and Mexico. There are also other main countries that also lie in North America. North America is also one of the biggest continents on the Earth! Wow!
Geography:
Did you know?
Located on the North Hemisphere, North America coves around 24 million square miles, which is actually 4.8% of the planet's surfaces. North America has a population over 500 million people! Another large number! Overall, North America has 23 countries and 18 dependencies. North America is the fourth largest continent by population, and third by land mass. North America is actually divided into four main categories, the Great Plains, Great Basin, Canadian Shield, and the Mexico region. Mount McKinley is the high point in North America with over 20,000 ft, and the lowest point is the Death Valley in California, which is 282 feet below sea level! That's quite a ways up and down!

Iamtodd: What is your favorite part of the US?
Play2live: My favorite part of the US is the East coast.
Wildlife:
Did you know?
North America has just so many animals it would be hard to list them all and their habitats. So, instead we are just going to call out a few and see how they live! I tried to pick animals I have never heard of and see how they live. First off, let's learn about the Gyrfalcon. This bird is the world's largest falcon, 50 cm long and its wings are 4 ft. long. Wow! The two main colors are darkish or light, light being white and darkish being black. They nest around on cliffs or something high; they are found in arctic regions on North America and main other continents. The second animal is the, Beluga. They are found mainly in cold Arctic waters. They love to journey to the Gulf of St. Lawrence to give birth! How sweet! Sadly, you won't see many these days. In 1906 parts of a baby beluga skull were found in an excavation area. Almost all of them were buried under a lot of clay estimated at about 11,000 years ago. That's sad . . .
