Ever get so bored that you feel like you have cabin fever? Today was my second day of summer break; I haven't got bored yet but it's bound to happen. Being cooped up in the house is a drag! Most of the time chilling with my friends keeps me entertained. But on the off chance that they don't, I always have a craft on hand. So, in that spirit I thought I would share a very easy craft that can be completed in roughly 30 minutes.
Want to know what this mysterious craft is? A purse made out of a sweater! You will need a crocheted sweater (some are available for cheap at Target), three stripes of faux suede fabric one inch wide and two feet long each, safety pin, one button of medium size, and needle and thread (matching the color of your sweater).
Your first step is to tuck the bottom inch of the sweater inside itself. Attach the safety pin to one of the fabric strips and use it to sew the bottom end of the sweater together. Knot the end and cinch to make the bottom of the bag.
The second step is to place the end of one sleeve inside the other, to make the strap. Use the safety pin and another fabric strip to sew them together, knotting and cinching once again. Weave the final piece of fabric around the neckline for a decorative touch.
For the final step, fold the top of the sweater to form the flap of the bag. Find a spot towards the center of the bag, under the flap, and sew the button on using the needle and thread. This will hold the bag closed.
Now your bag is ready for use! I hope you enjoyed this quick and easy craft. But remember, don't spend your whole summer indoors. Have some fun and get outside!
Adios,
Kindell
