"Wow, this is a first," Emily said sweetly.

"What is?" I asked.

"Oh, your boyfriend isn't here."

"He isn't my boyfriend Em."

"Whatever you say. He has been with you for like everyday these past weeks."

I couldn't tell Emily about why Jonathan was always at my house. She might have believed me, but I couldn't risk it.

Jonathan hasn't been over in a week now. He doesn't come by my locker to ask questions or talk about goblins. I miss talking to him. I pulled out the phone book, and flipped to the white pages. I went to the G's and my eyes scanned for the name Greene. Jonathan Greene, such a pretty name. I found it and quickly dialed the number.

"Hello?" a little boy said.

"Can I talk to Jonathan?" I asked.

I heard Jonathan?s little brother saying, "Your girlfriend is on the phone." I smiled at that, even though we aren't dating.

"Hi Sarah." He sounded tired.

"Want to come over tomorrow?"

"No," He said rudely.

"Why?"

"I said no! I don't want to be friends with things that shouldn't exist!" He hung up. I was shocked and slowly put down the phone. Well I guess he wasn't exactly friendly with Julie or Raffa, but he wasn't mean to them. He usually stood on the sidelines, asking a question now and then. I was hurt by his decision.

I was almost in tears because the one person I could talk to, didn't want to. I called Emily.

"Em will you come over?"

"Oh my gosh Sarah are you crying?"

I sniffled and coughed.

"I'm coming." She hung up.

After ten minutes she finally arrived. She had brought make-up and chocolate. A perfect feel better combination. Last time we did this, her boyfriend for four months broke up with her. I was the one who comforted her.

We didn't talk. We did each other's hair and make-up while shoving chocolate down our throats. Soon I wasn't sad about Jonathan anymore. It just made me want to tell Em even more.

The next day, after school, I was sitting in the clearing with about seven other creatures. I was picking he moss out of a centaur's fur. I heard loud crunching footsteps. I turned my head and Jonathan was stomping over. I smiled, he had finally came to hang out. He face was dark though, unwelcoming was plastered on his face. I frowned.

His hands were behind his back. He was focused on a fairy with orange hair. The next thing I knew a net was thrown over the fairy. I screamed and tried to get the net off. The fairy was panicking and my help was only tangling the net. While that was happening I saw expecting Julie to come help, but they had nets on them to.

"Traitor!" I screamed.

"They don't belong in our world!" Jonathan bellowed.

Tears rolled down my cheeks.

Jonathan took pictures on his camera while I sat there, stunned.

"The smartest scientist should be able to wipe these things out!" he spat.

I cried. I cried for the fairy. I cried for their world. I cried for Jonathan not wanting to help them.

"Shut up! You're acting like they are your family!" he said.

"They are closer to me than you!" I screamed.

"They shouldn't exist! How can a monster be more special to you than your own race!" he said.

He pulled his phone out of his pocket and dialed a number.

"I have the evidence. Have some one pick it up in two days." He shut the phone like he was too important to say good-bye. He disgusted me.

"I might get an award for this," Jonathan announced.

He left, with the orange haired fairy, with the pictures. I found a sharp rock and began cutting the nets open. Finally all of the fairies were free, except the one he had taken. I hoped that the fairy could escape. I hoped that the scientists didn't believe him, or that the photos looked fake. I wiped the tears from my eyes and started heading back to my house. Julie went to go tell the leader and hopefully make a plan in less than two days. I was so upset that I had went the wrong way, and I was lost. I made my way back to the clearing where the leader and Julie were making a plan. I overheard Julie saying it would work, but there were some risks. I took after my mother and am very nosy. I would asked Julie everything about the plan later tonight. I didn't want my parents to be worried so I got my bearings and started heading home.

I walked in the door at sunset. "Where were you?" my father asked.

"I got lost," I said weakly.

"We don't want you going in the forest anymore," they said sternly.

I tried to argue, but they wouldn't listen. Julie didn't come in to my room and tell me the plan either. I was going to have to do my own investigating.

At school before the bell rang I went in to my English class and looked in Jonathan's assigned desk. I found a phone number for a Dr. Scaper. I wrote his name and number down in my notebook and continued searching. Jonathan kept all his goodies in here. In found his camera. I turned it on and went through the pictures. All of the fairy pictures have either been erased or printed. That lowered my attitude. I was so close to destroying important evidence. Jonathan wasn't in class today. I bet he was getting all his evidence. I hated that little traitor.

After school I went on my computer and googled Dr. Scaper. I found out that he was a scientist that discovers new species. He mainly discovers mammals in the Amazon. I bet he wouldn't turn down a chance to discover flying mammals. I found out his address too.

I couldn't go in to the forest because my parents were home. I really needed to tell Julie about this. It was important. Finally at eight, she flew through my window. I showed her everything I found.

"This changes things," she said.

"Tell me the plan, please."

I listened intently. It was a good plan. My information filled in the holes, but it was still very risky. A sprite was key in the mission, and so was I. I had to act like nothing was wrong, even though my teeth were grinding. I couldn't go to sleep that night, my legs were restless, and my mind was going through all the things that might go wrong.
