Author's Note: No short people were harmed in the making of this article.

You'll never see eye-to-eye with everybody. Literally.

Some of us have to bend down under door frames, and some of us wear ancient elevator shoes. Some of us prefer to stand on our knees, and some of us prefer to stand on a table. Some of us -

Okay, I'm rambling now. The point is, people come in all shapes and sizes. When it comes to height, there's a huge range. Personally, I'm on the short side. I use a variety of methods to hide this - everything from pogo sticks to stilts.

Remember how I said I'm not good at sports? I'm not exactly great with pogo sticks or stilts either.

There is one ray of hope though. One tiny bit of justice. One small salvation. One -

I'm rambling again, aren't I? Back to the point. For those of us who "must be this tall to go on this ride" but aren't quite there yet, there's always the stepping stool. It's an ingenious invention for a quick boost in height! That's not all stepping stools are good for though.

Shrunken Shelf Staircase-style stools work especially well for this project, but even a block of wood works if you decorate it well enough. Paint your stepping stool in one solid design. Lots of little polka dots, completely blue, or maybe some stripes - it's up to you! The important thing is to keep it fairly simple, so that looking at it won't give you a headache. Feeling adventurous? Glue on pre-decorated fabric or paper (If you use paper, get a kind that's long lasting and water-resistant) for a more professional look. Then use your miniature shelf by the sink to hold soaps, in your room for displaying your rock collection, or on a window ledge with some bird food.

Teeny Tiny Table

Get a stool with a flat surface and, if you can, a "hollow" underside. In other words, try to get one that already looks like a table. There are millions of ways to decorate, but I'll list a few here.

(1) Get light brown, dark brown, and black paint. Paint the entire stool dark brown. Add bits of light brown in lines or dots (make sure that all lines are going in the same direction). Finally, paint bold black lines across the top of the stool. In the end, it will look like a wooden picnic table.

(2) Buy a red-and-white checkered piece of fabric, and cut it to make a tablecloth.

(3) Paint the stepping stool solid blue, then put a miniature vase of flowers at its center. However you choose to decorate, make sure to give your table a good home when you're finished. Give it to someone younger for their dolls, keep it by the phone to put down messages (you'll also need paper and a pen for that), or find a different use. It's up to you!

Eensy-Weensy Wastebasket

If there's one thing that's required for this project, it's that you have to get a stepping stool with a "hollow" bottom. From the side, it should almost look like a lowercase "n". Find a canvas bag that's about the same size as the stepping stool. Decorate it if you want to, along with the stool. Turn the stepping stool upside down (the legs should be in the air) and put the bag, face up, inside. Wrap the top of the bag over each leg until it's a snug fit. You've got yourself a wastebasket. Do the eco-friendly thing and use it as a recycling basket, and only put paper objects inside!

Thanks to everyone who sent in suggestions for this week! Please keep them coming.

Munchkins have feelings too, y'know!
