This newsmagazine also reports on cases of minimally conscious people ? those who cannot talk, walk or eat, but are not in what's called a vegetative state - who are being re-evaluated for degrees of consciousness many thought they never had. Some are actually re-awakening thanks to drug therapies. CNN Anchor Anderson Cooper reports.

"Republican National Convention"

Each of the five networks listed above will air Convention coverage for a hour September 1-4. Children's PressLine, the not-for-profit organization that teaches kids eight to 18 to be journalists, has fielded a team of New York-based youth journalists to cover both the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, traveling to Denver and Minneapolis respectively. From each convention, these youth journalists will work on assignment from media partners including the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Metro USA (New York, Boston and Philadelphia) and PBS NewsHour's online edition, producing three or more stories per day. Ten children, ages 11 to 16, will cover the Democratic convention and nine will cover the Republican convention. Each youth journalist will attend and produce coverage on convention activities including receptions and state caucuses, as well as conduct interviews with delegates, governors, senators, members of Congress and presidential candidates. Stories for PBS's NewsHour will be written from a teen-to-teen perspective. All stories will be written for a mainstream adult audience, conveying youth perspective on youth-related issues.

"Evolve: Flight"

Humans have always been fascinated with the one part of the world that we could not conquer--the sky. How did the earth's first flying creatures come to be? This documentary examines the first vertebrate flyer, the pterosaur, which took to the air over 220 million years ago and eventually evolved to be the size of small airplanes. Scientists have long pondered how they, the largest flying creatures ever, were able to achieve such an astonishing feat. Scientists examine the fossil record compare pterosaurs to living birds to try and unlock how some species evolved to have the remarkable trait of flight.

One of the greatest escape stories ever told, the book of Exodus recounts how Moses led the enslaved Israelites out of Egypt and parted the Red Sea. But before that, God delivered ten, terrible plagues to the Egyptians including frog and insect infestation and a final, devastating plague that killed every first-born Egyptian male. This documentary asks whether science explain these incredible events. Did the Red Sea really part? What might have created a safe passage for the fleeing Israelites?
