Before I show you the steps for creating some awesome looking drawings, I would like to announce that the winner of the "Name The Cat" contest in last week's article was Wicked777 with the name "Sargent Fuzzy Boots!" Congratulations and thanks to all who entered. Now let the doodling begin!
First of all, you need some inspiration. Walk around your neighborhood our yard to find what you would like to draw. Don't forget to bring along your notebook, pencil, and eraser!
Say you're looking at this scenery in real life:
Sketch it out quickly, because you just need a quick idea what it should look like. Remember, it's just a quick sketch and you don't need to fill in any detail yet!
As you can see, I sketched out this picture below:
For the next step, use your sketch to guide you. Draw what you saw, only more realistic. Add details such as eyes, where the light hits, flower petals, etc. To draw texture, draw lines going any which way. To make a "fuzzy" appearance, make the lines straight up and slanted. To show something "woolly like a sheep" draw circular squiggly lines.

Now what would a scenic picture be if it didn't have colors? If you added a little "r" on your sketch to show where something is red, that's great! It will really help you with the coloring. To color as if the light is hitting a spot, color it lighter than everywhere else or leave it slightly white. If you want the background blurred like in the first picture, use pastels and smudge it. You can color your picture with anything you want: crayons, pencil crayons, markers, watercolor paint, etc. To shade something, color with darker and go lighter with the same color. If you are using paints to get a darker color, just mix some black in with the color. To get a lighter color, mix white with the color you want.

Please note that my finished product was just meant to give you an idea of what it should look somewhat like. It was not meant to be a great work of art, it is still "doodles" after all.
