Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing
- "When You Wish Upon a Star" by Cliff Edwards

Am I crazy?

Can no one else hear this pulse?

It's filling my ears, it's not going away. It's so quiet, why can I hear so much?

I can hear the sounds from the highway, a comforting sound. There are no crickets, it's too cold for them.

Good.

I hate crickets.

Why is there a mysterious song lurking around me? Why are the stars shining so brightly when I never seem to see them any other time?

I love nighttime. It's when the world is at peace with itself and it's the time when my thoughts escape wildly. It's ghostly, it's overwhelming! Why is night so haunting?!

The stars, they say things to me. Shining over me and protecting me. I miss them during the day, no matter how blue the sky may be.

Every morning I wake up at 5:45. Usually, you would expect me to be extremely tired, but during the fall, winter, and early spring I'm actually quite happy and awake. It's always amazingly dark, with a tiny bit of orange on the horizon, threatening a new day. I shower in the dark, but switch on the lights as soon as I am able to notice light pouring in through the open window.

Maybe I should sleep during the day and stay awake at night.

On weekends I will stay up until five in the morning and pass out, sleeping until noon. That's mainly when my articles are written, at night, where no one else can butt in and interrupt me.

There are maybe 2 songs in the whole world that can define the magic of night for me.

1. "Harmonic Voltage" in the DVD Animusic
2. "Clair De Lune" by Tomita

It's too quiet, it's too loud. How loud can is possibly get? A steady rhythm, pulsing through my veins. I can't help but lay in my living room, all the blinds open, just staring into the empty sky above. The world is oh, so quiet.

No noises. No distractions. Just me, the stars, and the moon laughing at daytime.

Daytime is so predictable. You know where you're going, people know what you look like, you see who you're going to meet and avoid the ones you hate.

But if we were to live in the dark, we'd be stumbling around, running into others, meeting new people, not caring what they look like. Because in the day we all look different, but if a large hand were to come out of nowhere and smack the sun across the universe we'd all look exactly the same. So I laugh at daytime, point and laugh.

Because I honestly don't care what you think. Because how can you know everything when you haven't experienced everything? Stop sleeping and get up, you fool.

Beat of the stars. Beat of the stars. Beat of the stars.

Beat of the stars.

Can you hear it?
