Mommy, I spent today with Grampa
We had a picnic in the park
He bought me a bubble wand and soap
So I could blow bubbles til it got dark
Mommy, Grampa bought me ice cream at the park
It was messy, it got all over the place
Grampa saw my face covered in sprinkles and he laughed
And I could see the little lines on his face
Mommy, when I woke up this morning
I was on the couch covered with a blanket and a sheet
And I saw Grampa sitting in his favorite chair
With the coffee table holding up his feet
Mommy, Grampa was still snoring loudly
When I found out something new
I saw the purple shadows under his eyes
And realized he works hard, just like you
Mommy, there was something else I noticed
Grampa has laugh lines around his eyes
You have them too, only yours are much softer
That's how I know when smiles aren't a disguise
