Oldies v. Newbies

Chloe
Veteran Citizen

Hey Chloe here, I would just like to respond to the article in the Times about how Oldbies are mean, and that we haven't been on since 1999 and you can't get any new names. I speak from experience, that you are stating an opinion, and not a fact.

Oldbies (and I probably speak for us all) are aggravated and feel abused because we feel we deserve a little bit of respect when someone tells us to get the (fill in blank here) off THEIR spot when hey, we were here first. This goes on for quite a long time until we bite. You can kick a dog until it bites but don't expect to pet it afterwards.

Which brings me to the next point, why haven't we been on in so long? Well, because after the Whyville blackout, new people flooded the city and made it impossible to come online. We made new accounts in hopes of rebuilding, but this just took up "all the good names". Well. Don't we deserve to keep the hard earned accounts we started?

Another question, when I started Whyville and I'm sure many Oldbies (1999-2000) can agree, there were few people, one neighbourhood, and of course only the face parts Akbar himself personally made. There were no snazzy expensive home-made parts that cost 100 clams apiece. Almost everyone shopped from Bargain Basement, and loved it! We didn't beg for clams because no one had much but we were happy! From an experienced old-timer, not having clams isn't that bad, and the games are fun!

I do hope I haven't offended anyone, but I do believe that we Oldbies deserve a little bit more respect, we don't want to rule the roost, we just don't want you calling us newbies because we haven't had the chance to update, or saying get the (fill in here) off my spot just because you think you're better. We should treat everyone with respect and really, I went 3 months with green dreads. It ain't all bad!

TTYL, Chloe
