It is that time of the year again. The end of the year brings reflection on where we have been and hope for where we will go. Another year has past, and another year lies ahead. I know it is cliche to say, but time really does pass by faster and faster as the years go by. So many things have changed in our community this year, it is amazing to look back and see how far we have come. It is even more amazing to look ahead and see where we will go.
In my own life, I experienced great changes in 2008. I closed one chapter of my life, and started a new one. I moved 3,000 miles across the country and met a whole group of new people. I got a new apartment, started a new job and through all of that, Whyville has been there for me. Every week I have the honor and privilege of reading all of your articles and publishing them for everyone to see. It is something I look forward to and love being a part of. Despite my life changing almost completely, the Times and Whyville is still with me and I am truly blessed for that.
Our newspaper has also experienced some changes. New writers have popped up, new series have grabbed our attention, and a new section came about. Of course, our loyal and respected Times Writers have stuck around, and I thank them for all of their hard work and dedication. One thing that will no longer be around is Sudoku. You may have noticed it is not in this week's issue, and will no longer be in the Times. I know some of you enjoyed it, and some of you didn't, but our subscription was up and we decided not to renew it.
With 2009 upon us, I thought it would be a good time to remind everyone that your input for the Times is always encouraged. We are also always hiring Columnists, and could use a few more. You can look at article ID 6264 for instructions on how to apply. I'd also like to see 2009 become the year that the Times has more articles on world issues and events. Everything that happens in Whyville is important, but without the world that we live in, none of this would be possible! You can write articles about your town, state, country or even continent. You can write about a person, place, or thing that has happened or changed. Let's bring more awareness about our world to the Times.
Thank you all for an amazing year and for letting the Times be a part of it. I am looking forward to 2009 and what it will bring. I hope that you all have a happy and safe New Year's Eve.

Don't forget to attend the Whyville Times Awards. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, Jan. 4th at 4pm (Whyville Times) in the Greek Theater. I hope to see all of you there!
