With popular lines from various artists around the world, such as "be careful what you wish for, cause you just might get it" (Pussycat Dolls, "When I Grow Up"), and "I'm your biggest fan I'll follow you until you love me, Papa-Paparazzi . . ." (Lady Gaga, "Paparazzi"), it is extremely evident how hard being a celebrity is and what exactly being a star entails. We can often perceive how tremendous the stress is from being famous, but often enough can not come close to a visual of what it really is like. We all dream, most of us try, but only very few succeed. At one point in our lives we've always wanted to be famous I am sure, with the exception of some people, and maybe some of us still want to be famous. But do we really?
I'll quote the popular R&B singer Beyonce Knowles when she said ". . . I know people see celebrities and they look so perfect, and they seem like their life is so perfect and great, and they have money and fame and fans, and I'm a human being . . . I cry . . ." When we look at somebody so famous, our perception of them is simply that on a regular basis. They are an icon, they look perfect. But when we look beyond the veil of stardom, much more can be uncovered. We see a sensitive being, somebody just as normal as we are, somebody who is just known by many people. People like Beyonce are followed constantly by people called paparazzi, who snap photos of celebrities who are caught unaware. When they make a mistake, it's often a huge news report waiting to happen. When a celebrity is hurt, people can't see it. People like Britney Spears or Michael Jackson, people who were misunderstood. 99% of Whyville don't know them closely, but we've all heard the news reports. These reports often do not have the entire story. The fact of the matter is, none of us do. We're just people and they're just people.
A few months ago it was rumored Chris Brown hit Rihanna, for reasons unknown. People said many things. But people did not know a darn thing, because the people did not know them. The media had a story, and relayed it to us. This was a tool for them to get a story, that's all it really was. A story to heat up the crowd for a while, a story by which they could report on for a while to save them a bit of work.
This is often an constantly stressed message, because stardom is not always what it seems. Re-iteration is probably a good key here, to make people know the fact that we do not know these human beings. They feel, they cry, they get nervous, and they get scared. They are human beings. They just have The Fame.

This is a beautiful song by the band Kings of Leon. Lyrics are often, and undoubtedly, perceived differently, but the most common perception of these lyrics is the fact that the writer feels lonely as he travels on tour. The first line could mean him looking down at the stage, the crowd being painted by the shining stage lights. The writer could use somebody, someone like you. As a person, he can still get emotional, and this song strongly reflects that for all artists.
