Aloha from the depths of Akbar's Face Factory; it's TIKE reporting on a
pretty controversial issue. Face Parts: the basis behind them and their
impact on society. Do the parts themselves make you... or break you?
Quite some time ago, the Face Mall was introduced to help Whyvillians a) buy
products and b) have a way to earn some more clams on Whyville. However, I
remember when there was not a mall and citizens had to search through piles
of products before they found one they liked. Just recently have fashion trends become an issue. Is the Face Mall the thing that shapes us into our roles on Whyville?
If you haven't noticed, lots of issues revolve around Akbar's Face Mall. Just
recently, there was an article talking about unsellable face parts. Another
big topic is the re-creation (...or in other terms COPYING) of another
designer's part or parts. It's become an important issue, especially in the social world of Whyville. Sometimes, I see individuals marked as "noobies" just because they do not look quite as good as others... is this right?
In addition, face parts mark the individual that you are. If someone has
blonde hair and nice clothing, they are automatically labeled as a "prep".
Someone with dark make-up and hair may be called a "goth". And perhaps these
assumptions are correct, yet, you do not get to know the person they are before you judge or stereotype them, if you let yourself do this.
So... as I browse through yet another store, I bring myself to this
issue. It is my opinion that Akbar's Face Mall was one of the best
creations in Whyville history. However, what has it done to Whyvillians
themselves? Ask yourself a question: if the face mall was deleted or banned
for a few days (weeks? months?) would you be able to survive? Let's hope so.
Still searching for that day's bargain... warning you to KEEP YOUR FACE PARTS
ON STRAIGHT... literally.
