Picture this. It's two days before Christmas and my friend and I figure that we'll be nice and treat my little brother to a movie. We make it all the way down there and realize that we may need my dad because even though we are 15 and can get into the 14A movie (that's how they rate things where I live), my brother may need a bit more help. But it shouldn't be a big problem, because we are accompanying him. Right? I was wrong.

We get my dad, then go in to the ticket counter. My friend goes in first and gets her ticket. I go up and ask for 2 for the movie we were seeing. The counter lady starts handing me the tickets, then snaps them away rite at fingers reach. She asks for identification. My dad who is RIGHT THERE explains that he is the parent and is giving consent. She says that she doesn't care and that that doesn't matter. Then she explains that if one of us (me or my brother) can confirm that we are over 14, we are both able to get in (as I mentioned, I am accompanying him). So I get out my birth certificate. As she gives it back she says, "What about him?" Yeah, what about him, he's with me. But in spite of what she said, she won't let my 13 year old brother into the movie. I'm with him and my other friend who is also 15. My dad is right there. But we end up having to go without him.

Now, I don't know WHAT that woman was thinking. Especially since everywhere else you can get in no matter what age you are. I once went into a higher rated movie and realized that there were 8 year olds there as well. This was at a different theatre. But should that make a difference? The fact was, there were the tickets about to be handed to me and she snatched them back and wouldn't let my brother into the theatre, in spite of what she was saying, and in spite of our dad's consent. If ANYONE could tell me how this is just, please do so.

What I want to know is, do you think that there should be new rules in order? Because really, I don't see the fairness in what happened.
