In last week's Times we heard from Lily5125 in her article, Animated For Real, in which she expressed concern about the price of animated face parts. After reading it, I planned to post my thoughts in the BBS, but I felt a rebuttal article would be better suited to what I wanted to say.

You see, animated face parts are a new perk meant to increase sales of Why-Passes, which support the improvement of Whyville for everyone. As I've been told, the animated parts have had that desired effect. A lot. Since they're tied in to Why-Passes, that means animated parts do not expire, since non-expiring-until-forever-throughout-the-universe face parts are another perk of owning a Why-Pass.

As for salaries, all they need is a little hard work. Whyville supplies us with the science -- even a book to get started for some games -- and all you need to do is figure it out. You can work with others or do it on your own, but every game is doable. I learned when I was a newbie that sitting 'round complaining about how hard it is to raise your salary DOES NOT MAKE IT ANY EASIER. Go figure.

If people would just leave a chat room for fifteen minutes a day and play the games in their Ledger, they would raise their salary quite easily, and also learn a bit of science.

Really, that's what Whyville was made for. "A science and mathematics website for ages 9-15" is the description you'll see for it most places.

Moving on. The point of animated parts is to have something that people will like, so people will want them, so people will buy Why-Passes, so Whyville will get more money, so we all have a better Whyville.

If you really want animated face parts, you will raise your salary and work for them, just like everybody else. And hey, you know those people like me whose salary is well over 100? We all started out with 0. My dears, anyone can raise it that high, through hard work and determination. Patience is a constant and true virtue.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
