It was another normal day for this new Why-Pass owner. I woke up; made some face parts; and then logged
out. Of course, I thought that every face part that I would make would be accepted
by Akbar... but that's not exactly what happened.
I had over 1,000 clams and decided I was going to make billions selling my face
parts. Every day I was making at least 20 face parts, and pretty soon I only
had 25 clams left, but I didn't mind much. I was assuming that I would
get all of the money back by selling all of my FABULOUS face parts!
The next day was TERROR! I logged on to Whyville, checked my mail, and to my surprise
I found a LONG list of 64 Face Factory Y-mails.
I had thought the letters
would say, "CONGRATS YOUR FACE PART IS IN MY STORE!", but when I opened
them, each one read loud and clear: "I'M SORRY, YOUR FACE PART WAS NOT
SUCCESSFULLY ACCEPTED INTO MY STORE."
I was shocked. As I went down the 64 Y-mails from Akbar, I realized that
I was about to become bankrupt!
I began to go nuts! I wrote a letter back saying that it wasn't fair, but my
letter was never replied to.
My advice to you out there is... DON'T MAKE FACE PARTS UNLESS THEY'RE PERFECT! I
hope that none of you will be robbed of your clams making face parts.
Well, time for me to go eat a burger!

Editor's Note: As Grovieguy has learned since he wrote this article,
not all those clams are "stolen" from him. First of all, when you go to
create your clams, the instructions for the Face Factory clearly tell you that
it costs clams to use the Factory, and it costs clams to create each individual
part after you've made a design. Afterward, if Akbar does not accept your
part, you will be refunded the money for the parts, but not for the time --
remember, you used the time and can't give it back! :-)
Now, as for Akbar not accepting certain parts, that's
mainly there to keep Whyville looking like Whyville. If Akbar accepted
everything, well, we could end up looking like some other site -- Neopets or
Disney or whatever. Part of the reason you come to Whyville is to look like a
Whyvillian.
Then there's issues of copyrighted parts, inappropriate
ones, and so on. Of course, Akbar would love it if everyone took your advice and
made perfect parts! If you need help figuring it out, start with
Akbar's Factory Rules, a five-part series.
Oh, and one more thing -- from the Y-mails Grovieguy
received, it's likely that Akbar never actually saw his parts. He probably
didn't wait to see the confirmation page after submitting each part. When a part
isn't fully submitted, it has to be rejected by the system, and the Y-mail
Grovieguy got is the usual message we send in that case.
