Time for your seasonal fashion report! I'll start right off my saying I was mistaken, and I apologize. I was revising my very extensive intro about how trends start and all that jazz then it came to me... fashion isn't about trends. It's about wearing what makes you feel the best. Whether that's following trends or not, it's completely up to you. People who step outside of the boundaries are those who set trends for followers to follow.

Do you want to be known for a unique and totally out there fashion sense? Or do you want to be known as the person who wears what everyone else wears? You decide.

People judge you. As unfair as it is, that's reality. What do you want people to think of youas? A follower, or a leader? For those of you who are undecided, I would like to help.

Yes, this article is about seasonal trends because I like following what's in; it's a hobby of mine in a way, but at the same time, I also like setting my own trends. Enjoy!

Quick tips:

"Eskimo chic" -- This means coats that have fur accents, and chunky, comfy boots.

Layers -- Anything that keeps you warm without looking like a marshmallow! Try a sweater with a long scarf, for example.

Faux fur -- Don't buy real fur unless you're mean! :-( But either way, fur is hot this season.

White -- Ignore the white-after-Labor-Day rule; white is an essential for winter!

Trench -- The trenchcoat has been popular forEVER! It's truly a classic; you can't go wrong with a quality-made trenchcoat.

Colorful jewels -- You can find color jewels at any thrift shop! Or if you're willing to splurge, you could always go to a fancy jewelry shop.

Crocheted sweaters -- Now, I'm not talking about the sweater your grandma gave you for Christmas, but something that is simple and up-to-date.

Scarf -- They keep you warm and they look great! This year, really long scarves are in.

Intricate embroidery -- Things with fine detail add character to your ordinary items of clothing.

Boots -- I think boots will always be fashionable. Invest in a good pair of boots with perhaps a pointy toe and a heel that is not too chunky.

Jewel tones -- This means turquoise, purple, burgundy and other colors in that family.

Secretary style -- Pencil skirts, classy coats and high heels are all over the runways! But pick one or the other.

Long necklaces -- Pick these up at a thrift shop for a couple bucks!

Metallic -- Metallic shoes, coats and accessories are very stylish. Just make sure not to go overboard!

Tweed -- A classic. It was in for fall and it's in for winter!

Styles: I tried to group styles most often found among teens today into six main categories.

Sporty -- People who have a sporty fashion often like track shoes and jackets, casual jeans and T-shirts

Sporty girls are all about comfort. Jeans are a staple in a sporty wardrobe, so invest in a comfortable, well-made pair of jeans that you absolutely adore. Buy a pair of track sneakers with colors that fit your personality. If the majority of your outfit is sporty and casual, step outside of the box. Wear something else unexpected, like a pretty lacy top or a sophisticated jacket.

Girly -- People who have a girly style often like pretty things like lacy tops and soft pastels.

Girly girls often like the finer things in life, like exquisite jewels and pretty tops and skirts. I would recommend buying a skirt that's a little bit about your knee but not so short that you freeze. ;-) Buy a shirt that is in colors you love but is flowing and pretty just like you. Wear a long strand of pearls or a great vintage necklace... or even a scarf! And a pair of pointy flats in colors would be hot this winter.

Boho -- People who have a boho style often like flowy, natural things, like crocheted ponchos and colors like tans and neutral colors.

Bohemian girls are in luck this season! Hippie chic is all over the runways. Get a pair of Eskimo or cowboy boots and pair them with a knee-length skirt. Since the rest of the outfit is already very natural-looking, get a sophisticated or edgy top.

Sophisticated -- People who have a sophisticated style often like dark colors, a very professional and grown-up style, and things with more structure.

Pencil skirts all very trendy this season. Don't overdo the whole secretary style, though. Wear a pencil skirt with a cute top or a structured jacket with a pair of jeans, but not together (unless you're going on a job interview :/), or wear a trenchcoat! Keep the colors monochromatic --meaning one or 2 colors, both very similar. Very simple and very classy!

Vintage -- People who have a vintage style often like things from the past, such as polka dots, lavish pearls, psychedelic patterns, bright colors... anything from any past decade.

Go shopping with your girlfriends to your local vintage store! You can find such great pieces there, and no one knows they only cost you 20 bucks! The best part is knowing that what you have is pretty much one of a kind. Find something that screams you, and pair it with something more modern to get a great vintage look without overdoing it. Get some broaches, a crocheted scarf, or even some authentic cowboy boots and pair them with things like casual jeans, a fun skirt or a trenchcoat!

Edgy -- People who have an edgy style often like worn jeans, bright flashy colors, funky jewelry, metallic things and band tees and so on.

Support your favorite band and let the whole world know it by wearing band T-shirts! I would recommend wearing your favorite band T-shirts with a simple pair of jeans. Wear a warm leather jacket. I would try my best to find a band T-shirt that has colors that are hot this winter; then pull out colors in that shirt and make it the main colors of your accessories. Match them with a pair of white pumps, a white studded belt and a jewel tone scarf (i.e. turquoise, ruby, deep purple and emerald), and you'll have a wonderful edgy outfit ready for winter!

Thanks for reading my article. I'm working very hard to please everyone and I know that's impossible. But I'm trying!

I hope that there won't be an end to fashion articles in the Times, because for me, fashion is a big part of my life that I would like to share with the rest of you. The most important thing about fashion is wearing what makes YOU feel great.

Keep your eyes open for next season's Spring Fashion Essentials article!
